Would you vote for her if she was running?
Do you think she would be a good president?
Why?
June 14, 2011 4:24 pm at 4:24 pm #777032Pac-ManMemberI don’t vote for women in public office.

I don’t vote for women in public office.
Why not? Who cares if they are a woman or a man? What you should want in a politiican has to do more with what their policies are than who they are. Not voting for Bachman just because she is a lady, is sort of like voting for Obama just because he is a Black, which is stupid. If you disagree with her policies fine that makes sense. But if you dont like her just because shes a lady that’s kind of discriminatory. And yes it is Bachman.
June 14, 2011 9:05 pm at 9:05 pm #777036Pac-ManMemberI’m very discriminatory in my practices. But gender roles are not comparable to race roles. A woman’s place is not in the public arena.
June 14, 2011 9:50 pm at 9:50 pm #777037Busy As A BeeParticipantSorry Bachman, not Blachman.
And Pac-man /Joseph while that may be true in the jewish world, its not in the outside world. You’d rather a dumb antisemetic man than this women?

A woman’s place is not in the public arena.
When you vote you are supposed to vote for the candidate you think will do a good job running this country. To say a woman cant do a good job in nonsensical, but apparently that is not what you are saying. What youre saying is you wont vote for a woman whether she is the best candidate or not, whether she can do a good job or not, even whether you agree with her policies or not. You just wont vote for her because shes a woman. Somehow that doesnt seem to make too much snese.
June 14, 2011 9:56 pm at 9:56 pm #777039Pac-ManMemberNo, I’d rather Mitt Romney than this dumbell.
June 14, 2011 10:03 pm at 10:03 pm #777040midwesternerParticipantIs R’ Mendel Blachman from Kerem B’Yavneh running for Prez? I didn’t hear anything about it!
June 14, 2011 10:07 pm at 10:07 pm #777041charliehallParticipantAbout 90 years ago the gedolim considered the question of womens’ participation in democracies. Basically, it was Rav Kook z’tz’l who said that women shouldn’t even vote, vs. Rav Uziel z’tz’l who said that l’chatchila women can hold and hold any office in a democracy — and Rav Uziel’s opinion was unanimously accepted by klal Yisrael. The opinions have been translated into English and can be found with an internet search.
June 14, 2011 10:16 pm at 10:16 pm #777042zaidy78ParticipantNot to be racist or anything, but isn’t our current president (a) Blachman?? I have nothing against him being a blachman, it is his policies that are ruining this country.
June 14, 2011 10:26 pm at 10:26 pm #777043cucumberMemberPac-Man
No, I’d rather Mitt Romney than this dumbell.
Do you think she’s a dumbbell just because she’s a woman? Or for a reason? If you have a reason then her being a woman has nothing to do with it. So there is no reason to drag it in.
June 14, 2011 10:26 pm at 10:26 pm #777044Pac-ManMembercucumber: I’m simply saying a woman’s place is not in the public arena.
charliehall: Don’t equate what the Zionists accepted with “Klal Yisroel”.

I’m simply saying a woman’s place is not in the public arena.
So what does that have to do with being a dumbbell?
June 14, 2011 10:32 pm at 10:32 pm #777047Pac-ManMembercucumber: Aside from the gender issue, she is a dolt.
June 14, 2011 11:18 pm at 11:18 pm #777048deiyezoogerMemberDevorah Haneviah was ruling klal Yisroel thousand of years before any demacracy.
June 14, 2011 11:43 pm at 11:43 pm #777049Pac-ManMemberDevorah Haneviah was the only woman was was a Judge and had neviah, and the Gemorah discusses this and answers include that it was an extreme case and she was given permission by Hashem, and that she advised male judges.
Also, the Gemora in Kesuvos states that certain people who are on very high madreigos are allowed to act in ways that for normal people would be considered not tzniusdik, because to them, the woman (the Gemora is talking about a man) is not a taavah. You can be sure that the men were not looking at Devorah at the time – for all we know there was a seperation between them or she was off to the side or something else, but you can be sure that the circumstances were set up so as to facilitate tznius.

And Pac-Man, while Romeny has alot of good things, his health care plan is not great for most of us.
June 14, 2011 11:52 pm at 11:52 pm #777051cucumberMemberPac-Man Aside from the gender issue, she is a dolt.
Earlier: Pac-Man I’m simply saying a woman’s place is not in the public arena.
So is your problem the fact that she is a dolt or is it the fact that she is a woman? You seem to be changing your mind on this issue. Furthermore do you have any reasons to say that she is a dolt? Do you even know what her stand on any issues are?
June 14, 2011 11:55 pm at 11:55 pm #777053Pac-ManMembercucumber: What’s so hard to understand? There are two separate and distinct problems with her holding public office: 1) She’s a woman and 2) She’s a dolt.
June 15, 2011 12:04 am at 12:04 am #777054Busy As A BeeParticipantPac-Man I wont argue that she’s a woman.
That’s pretty clear.
But you cant just say she’s a dolt without backing up your opinion. Otherwise its just your personal opinion and holds no weight with anyone else.
June 15, 2011 12:05 am at 12:05 am #777055deiyezoogerMember“for all we know there was a seperation between them or she was off to the side or something else, but you can be sure that the circumstances were set up so as to facilitate tznius. “
???? ????? ??? ?????
Actualy the gemarah says that the reason she sat under a palm tree and not another tree is so that it should be open to public view in order to avoid yichud.
June 15, 2011 12:05 am at 12:05 am #777056cucumberMemberPac-Man
you still did not give even one example of her being a dolt. Can I assume that you dont have any?
June 15, 2011 12:15 am at 12:15 am #777057Pac-ManMemberNo, you can’t assume that.
June 15, 2011 12:27 am at 12:27 am #777058Pac-ManMemberI’ve heard her say dumb things many time over a long period. I don’t keep track of them or try to remember them. Here are a sampling of idiotic things I found she said:
“Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn’t even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas.”
“I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back.”
”Michael Steele! You be da man! You be da man!”
”I’m very concerned about the international moves they’re making, particularly … moving the United States off the dollar and onto a global currency, like Russia and China are calling for.”
”I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out under another, then under another Democrat president, Jimmy Carter. I’m not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it’s an interesting coincidence.”

Apparently you got that list of sayings from a liberal anti-Bachmann website since that list is all one liners taken completely out of context. i know the mainstream media like to portray female republicans as dolts, which they actually do quite a good job of. People dont bother looking further than those one lines taken way out of context. For example, your 1st line of “proof” “Carbon dioxide is portrayed as harmful. But there isn’t even one study that can be produced that shows that carbon dioxide is a harmful gas.” That line was taken, I beleive, from a speech where she was explaining how fraudulent the whole global warming concept is and how the liberals twist data and make things up. As far as I was able to able to tell she was simply refuting the claim of liberals that carbon dioxide contributes to global warming- in other words it is portrayed as harmful TO THE ENVIROMENT- which is no proof of. I am unfamiliar with the context of the other quotes, but I beleive that if you would see them in their entirety they would look alot different.
June 15, 2011 11:20 pm at 11:20 pm #777062cucumberMember”I’m very concerned about the international moves they’re making, particularly … moving the United States off the dollar and onto a global currency, like Russia and China are calling for.”
what are those … in the middle for? Apparently if you would leave the words they stand for in it would make the statement sound alot better. Additionally, the statement makes alot of sense so I am not sure why you are using it as proof that she is a dolt. Have you never heard of anyone calling for a global currency?
June 15, 2011 11:50 pm at 11:50 pm #777063Pac-ManMemberthat list is all one liners taken completely out of context.
cucumber: Please put each of the above quotes of her into “context” for us, so that we can see the light that those comments really aren’t as dumb as they first seem.
You seriously believe there is any serious talk — other than perhaps by some wackos — to take the United States off the dollar and unto some “global currency”?

Isnt the example I gave good enough?
