anyone bought any?
September 1, 2014 11:37 am at 11:37 am #1030643JosephParticipantI’m trying to purchase something overseas that doesn’t accept foreign credit cards but does accept bitcoins. Which bitcoin provider would be easiest to setup an account with? And how difficult is it to use bitcoins in general. And how safe.
September 1, 2014 12:56 pm at 12:56 pm #1030644Miriam377Participantmany foreign vendors accept paypal. try that first
September 1, 2014 9:50 pm at 9:50 pm #1030645JosephParticipantThey don’t accept paypal.
September 2, 2014 2:13 am at 2:13 am #1030646YW Moderator-42ModeratorIf they don’t accept paypal then perhaps you shouldn’t do business with them…
Does Hamas accept paypal to fund their tunnel project?
September 2, 2014 4:55 pm at 4:55 pm #1030647–ParticipantI’d be extremely hesitant to do business if the only payment method accepted is bitcoin.
September 3, 2014 4:47 am at 4:47 am #1030648JosephParticipantThey accept Visa and MasterCards issued by EU banks but not from outside the EU. They are a reputable (European) merchant but are not geared for American customers.
September 3, 2014 1:16 pm at 1:16 pm #1030649popa_bar_abbaParticipantOr maybe, they are a scam for americans set up to look like a reputable european business.
Amazon is an american business–do they take european credit cards?
September 3, 2014 1:27 pm at 1:27 pm #1030650☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI have never heard of Visa/MasterCard not working with an overseas company, except for smart chip cards, and that’s a swiping issue, and has nothing to do with internet transactions.
September 3, 2014 6:58 pm at 6:58 pm #1030651thethinkingjewParticipantamazon has a uk site as well. most companies accept visa/mastercard they may charge exchange rates but they should accept.

I’m sure it accepts bitcoins, which are the perfect means for terrorists, drug lords, and other unsavory folks to launder money.
September 4, 2014 2:28 am at 2:28 am #1030653JosephParticipantDY: Visa and MC do an address verification prior to approving the transaction and some merchants (including some American) choose to refuse to accept foreign cards as a security precaution.
pba: Amazon is a multinational corporation unlike most businesses.
Charlie: Benjamin Franklins are also great for drug lords and unsavory folks laundering money.
September 4, 2014 3:15 am at 3:15 am #1030654popa_bar_abbaParticipantCharlie: Benjamin Franklins are also great for drug lords and unsavory folks laundering money.
Yes, but the reason money laundering exists, is that it is quite hard to do anything with your huge piles of franklins, since you can’t deposit them in a bank. Unlike bitcoin.
September 4, 2014 3:19 am at 3:19 am #1030655JosephParticipantYou can do a lot more with Franklins than with Bitcoins.
And whatever banking restrictions are applicable to Franklins, they’re also applicable to transferring Bitcoins into the banking system.
September 4, 2014 3:45 am at 3:45 am #1030656popa_bar_abbaParticipantYes, but you don’t need to transfer bitcoins into the banking system, since you can use them and move them and transfer them all within the bitcoin system.
Unlike cash.
But bitcoin is a stupid scam anyway, and will fall apart right soon.
September 4, 2014 4:16 am at 4:16 am #1030657☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI wouldn’t take any chances. I’ve never had a problem using MC/Visa overseas.
