“BiShlomo shel Malchus” – especially in these shaky days…Hashem yerachem.

    Rabbenu Yona (Avoth, 3:2):
This matter is wanting to say that a person should pray for the peace of the whole world and be in pain about the pain of others. And this is the way of the righteous ones, as David, peace be upon him, stated (Psalms 35:13), “As for me, when they were ill, my dress was sackcloth, I afflicted myself in fasting.” As a person should not make his supplications and his requests for his needs alone, but rather to pray for all people, that they be at peace. As with the welfare of the government, there is peace in the world.

A lot of shuls skip it, so see what you get: Trump and Biden, Pelosi and De Blasio. As many shuls skip the prayer for the government, and we get fools running the government, does this not prove how important Klal Yisrael is (and why we should resume tefilah be-tzibbur before the world falls apart).

The Chasam Sofer explains why the talmidei chachimim increase peace in the world. There is a fixed amount of conflicts preordaned on this world. The more milchamta shel Torah (confict) exist the less battles and wars among nations occur.

The Midrash Shmuel says in the name of the Ritvo that it refers to above, to the shalom of the behavior of Hashem. I think it means that the kitrugim should get convinced and agree with the defenders. That can be the meaning עושה שלום במרומיו He, Hashem, the same way makes peace in the heavens, הוא יעשה שלום עלינו should make peace on us, caring for and loving each other and then ואמרו אמן the Malochim will say Amen.

Look at the Rabbenu Bachya at the end of Parashas Ki Siso how originally when they started to write down the oral law, they only were allowed to write down the essentials and the rest was self understood. As the generations became weaker, more and more commentaries became necessary. This is how the gemora came about. This is the meaning of a gemora’s expression indicating that something is missing. This was done on purpose , at that time, as it was understood without it.

Re Rabenu baChyei in Ki Tiso on Chisurei-meChasro in Shas, see Shla”h TorohSheBe’alPe, Lamed. His opinion, and how he understood in Halichos Olom.

Kneseth Yisroel brings from ‘Milei deOvos’ that are fathers and forfathers have always done so praying for wellbeing of governments . Like Avrohom ovinu praying for Avimelech (Genesis 20); Yaakov ovinu praying for Paro’h (ibid 46); novi Yermiyohu (29) asking on going to Golus Bovel.

Dear akuperma, #post-1867963, of course we all pray private and in public for government peace, and world peace. With or without specific haNosen teshuo phrase.
