DO U WASH YOUR TZITZIS?? WHY WOULD SOMEONE WASH TZITZIS IF IT NEVER GETS DIRTY BECAUSE IT NEVER TOUCHES YOUR SKIN BECAUSE OF UNDERSHIRT AND NEVER DIRTY BECAUSE OF SHIRT COVERING IT
Please refrain from posting in all caps.
And l’maaseh g’ret, the answer to you question is that they get dirty. Fregt nisht kein kashyas oif a ma’aseh.
Yes. I wash my tzitzis. They DO get dirty. The same way you would wash your shirt after a chassuna, even though you wore a suit jacket a whole time.
By the way, a yarmulka gets really sweaty and needs to be replaced or washed more often than most do, as well. Think about it. You are constantly taking showers to clean yourself, but then put on the same yarmulka you have been sweating in – for months!!
I HEARD R sheinberg z’l tell the Kollel guys to give their tzitzis to their wives to wash, the collective smell bothered him! (and them as well) And yes, his wife washed his regularly
There is a story about the Chasam Sofer who asked to test the bochurim’s reaction, how do you sweep out your room? Viazo kertmen aus die shtieb? The bochurim, figuring the Chasam Sofer is asking, looked all over Shulchan Aruch for the halacha. A young boy got up and said, with a broom, mit a besem. Sometimes we ask the obvious. Why do you wash the tzitzis? Because it is dirty. The problem is not the garment but tbe tzitzis that gets entangled.
One can tell the Corona fixation is B’H beginning to wane by the titles of some of the recent CR posts. Now we can get back to normal with a focus on the shidduch crisis, WoW making a scene at the Kosel and the latest sighting of moishiach on Eastern Parkway.
