Whatever happened to him?
March 6, 2017 12:56 am at 12:56 am #1222672LightbriteParticipantI ate him.
March 6, 2017 7:00 am at 7:00 am #1222673yehudayonaParticipantIt’s Goomber.
March 6, 2017 11:55 am at 11:55 am #1222674☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHe made it on time for Shabbos.
March 6, 2017 11:58 am at 11:58 am #1222675JosephParticipantIs that the spelling on his birth certificate?
March 6, 2017 12:07 pm at 12:07 pm #1222676☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNo, on the record cover.
March 6, 2017 1:52 pm at 1:52 pm #1222677Geordie613ParticipantJoseph, I am surprised that someone of your erudition was not up to date with the whole Uncle Moishy series.??? ?? ???? ?? ????? ??, it’s the basics.
People of my age, will know that Big Gedaliah Goomber (BGG) was a favourite feature of the early Uncle Moishy tapes – as they were at the time. I believe he was in retirement, or having more adventures, but Uncle Moishy brought him back in volume 18, where he brings us up to date with his latest Shabbos observing escapades.
March 6, 2017 1:58 pm at 1:58 pm #1222678yehudayonaParticipantIf it’s spelled Gumber on his birth certificate, does that mean he was born in Kenya?
March 6, 2017 3:33 pm at 3:33 pm #1222679Avram in MDParticipantJoseph,
Whatever happened to him?
He took on bringing in Shabbos early.
March 6, 2017 3:50 pm at 3:50 pm #1222681Avram in MDParticipantOnce I was a builder, and on the 100th floor,
I was carrying a load of bricks, an easy ton or more!
But now it’s midday Friday, so I take an extra hour,
I got home nice and early, an even had time to shower!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Guess it doesn’t have the same ring to it 🙂
March 6, 2017 11:33 pm at 11:33 pm #1222682chanasaraMemberFYI: BGG predates Uncle Moishy. The song was around a generation before that.
March 7, 2017 12:47 am at 12:47 am #1222683LightbriteParticipantAvram in the CR: I thought that you were telling us a story. Once I got to hour, I was confused. Then I realized that you must have dropped all of your bricks just to get home. Which is why you’ve never talked about this job before today.
March 7, 2017 1:46 am at 1:46 am #1222684Avram in MDParticipantThe old Gedalia Goomber would’ve dropped the ton of bricks off the building in order to rush home for Shabbos. The new Gedalia Goomber gives himself extra time to get home and prepare, but still drops the bricks for fun. Then he has to find a new job the next week.
March 7, 2017 1:44 pm at 1:44 pm #1222685RedlegParticipantThis belongs on the “Heroes” thread
March 7, 2017 2:43 pm at 2:43 pm #1222686Geordie613ParticipantOy LB, you need to get the Uncle Moishy tapes/CD/MP3s to learn about this very interesting character.
March 7, 2017 4:30 pm at 4:30 pm #1222687Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantVery important aspect of Yiddishkeit! I am shocked that in all your years of learning, going to shiurim, and speaking to Rabbis and Rebbetzins, no one has yet told you about Uncle Moishy!!!
You know all about Shabbos, tznius, mishloach manos, purim constumes, etc, and no one has yet told you about Uncle Moishy????!!! Shocking!
Don’t worry- as long as you find out before you have kids, IY”H, it’s okay 🙂
March 7, 2017 4:34 pm at 4:34 pm #1222688Avram in MDParticipantUncle Moishy is not something that can be told over. He must be experienced properly – at high volume while squished in an 8-passenger Toyota Sienna next to a car seat during a long drive, with 6-inch drifts of cracker crumbs and toys on the floor.
March 7, 2017 4:42 pm at 4:42 pm #1222689Geordie613ParticipantAiMD, Brilliant!! 🙂
March 9, 2017 1:32 am at 1:32 am #1222690from Long IslandParticipantOh gosh, I remember bringing my children to an Uncle Moishy concert in Far Rockaway, every single chol hamoed succos. I loved his concerts & so did my kids, there was such energy.
Once I brought my husband along, and within 15 minutes, he got kind of “wild-eyed” watching all the kids & toddlers jump up and down and turning around, I suggested he go outside and he said – I owe you, I owe you forever. Funniest experience of my life !!
