Do you really think someone got people’s email addresses by asking a few too personal questions? Like I said, it seems like there is more than one issue here. Perhaps they are connected, perhaps not.

One of our readers who knows the family contacted a Kletzky, who thought that this person sounded very suspicious. They are VERY concerned about identity theft and false claims. For now, due to the safety concerns of the CR, we understandably have blocked the account. AYC, please check your email and contact me for more info. Alternatively, please call the Kletzkys and touch base, and they will let us know to unlock the account.

I very much hope that this is a simple misunderstanding. In the meantime, however, I’m sure that you will understand why we must make this move. Thank you very much, and again my apologies.

When she said she was a Kletzky I thought she meant it figuratively, meaning that she wasn’t just a bystander of tragedy but among the victims. Either way, 42 said it may be a misunderstanding. Knowing how sensitive AYC has been to lesser charges, can we hold off on the gavel clop til we know more?

I’ve no idea whether this is true or not. But while we, the fellow CRers are speculating, I’d like to commend Mod -42 on a job well done. Although this may be wrong, he’d done his duty as a mod as efficient and pain-free as possible. I greatly appreciate your concern and constant action to protect us, Mod. Thank you.

(And AYC, in case this is false, please forgive the mods. They don’t want to hurt you per se, and they truly do mean well. If you’re just an innocent poster, you too, would be relieved when you’d see the mods ensure our security.)

I really, really hope this is a big misunderstanding. I could easily be wrong in thinking this way but the AYC posts that I’ve read hardly seem like they came from someone who could play such a sick joke. At the same time, until its sorted out, I must give credit to the mods for keeping this place safe.

I always assumed AYC is a he as opposed to a she, but I guess the account has a female name…?

I think YW Moderator-42 is attempting to demonstrate the danger. Consider the following sequence of events:

1.) Poster “YoungPerson” mentions that she is from prominent family X.

2.) Poster “OlderMan” contacts someone in family X, stating that he is involved with IT security, and that someone in the CR is claiming to be from family X, which concerns him, and to confirm that YoungPerson is legit.

3.) Family X investigates and finds out that a young niece is posting in the CR, so they contact OlderMan to let him know who YoungPerson is, and that she’s legit. They thank OlderMan for his concern for the family’s privacy.

4.) OlderMan now has YoungPerson’s full name, and can easily deduce other details such as address, age, school, etc.

Avram, I like your theory but not the logic. Number 2 just doesn’t make sense. OlderMan calls family X and says (in a low pitch, professional voice), “There is some anonymous person on our blog that says he/she is part of your family!(!!!)”

Family X responds: “and?”

OlderMan: “We are not sure if s/he is legitimate!”

Mr. X: “And if he’s not in my family, then what?”
