BE AWARE!!!!!!!!

Chuck, this goes on all the time, with companies downsizing their products, or diluting ingredients, and sometimes saying new and improved, when all they have done is give less than before, or lower quality. I just noticed that Bumblebee Tuna now has 5 oz cans, instead of the usual 6 oz (which used to be 6.5 years ago).

Technically it is not illegal, since they state the size on the container. However, it is all designed to fool people who do not pay attention to sizes, or can’t compute the actual cost/ounce. You always need to divide the cost by the size to see what value you are really getting with any purchase. There are often many sizes available simultaneously with some on sale, and others not.

Another thing which bothers me about the heimishe companies, is that why is cholov yisroel about 3.00 per half gallon (6.00 per gallon), when I can often find a gallon of similar non-cholov yisroel at 4.00 per gallon. Is there any need to keep cholov yisroel when the price is 50% greater than non-CY milk, especially considering Reb Moshe’s heter. (Remember gemaras that say some amoraim threatened to use various kulas, if the vendors didn’t lower prices, such as with haddasim.) Does it really cost so much more to produce and oversee it? Isn’t all that’s required to have a Jew present at the plant? If he is anyway a worker, it is not even an extra expense. Could somebody please explain?
