I must start by saying that I do not claim to know all the laws involved in this issue.
However, it seems beyond belief to me that tens of thousands of people in the Baltimore – Washington DC area have not had electricity since Friday night, and over 8,000 Con Ed workers are locked out when they seemingly could have been sent down to help!!
On the news is said that they have crews from as far away as Florida.
Doesn’t anyone in the government have any common sense? There must be a way to get them back to work on a temporary manner.
Also, I must mention that I heard from someone in Baltimore that last night the caterer O’Fishele made a fleishige shmorg FREE for everyone who didn’t have power! Wow! What a zchus!

The government can’t FORCE ConEd to unlock the doors. This isn’t an issue of National Security (ex. air traffic controllers, etc.) where the government can FORCE people to work.
July 3, 2012 4:55 pm at 4:55 pm #8823572scentsParticipantso what do you suggest?
they go around on the streets and shout: “All former ConEd workers, we have a temp job for you in Baltimore”?

The world is big enough, without having to be in Baltimore.
FYI:- I am about to fly out to the Southern Hemisphere, to reduce the # of hours I’ll have to fast on Tammuz 18th, where they are in early winter. Would you like to join me to the Southern Hemisphere? and have a great excuse to get out of Baltimore.
