For all those that want to comment about “It’s Avoda Zorah” etc, please desist from commenting since I already know that opinion and not interested in debating that point. I also heard that Ayin horahs only affect those that believe in it.
Here is the story, my wife called this lady to remove ayin horah’s without my knowledge, since I would have had a cow on the amount of money she paid.
1) Is this person a scam artist feeding off those that are desperate? I personally believe if hashem gave you a gift, you should share it with klal yisroel, free of charge. Yes, you can ask for a donation, but to charge people???!!
2) The person said that my Indian coworkers gave me an ayin horah? Can a non jew give an ayin horah to a jew? I just never thought of it like that.
3) I asked my wife to ask this person to tell me how do I know if it works? Can I see the results?
Personally, I feel my wife just wasted money especially since a half hour after she told me what she did, someone rear ended my car. How is that for bad luck?
January 28, 2013 2:26 am at 2:26 am #925045avhabenParticipantA wife cannot spend money without her husbands approval, since all the money is his. If she does, the husband can demand the money be returned to him from the person it was given to.
That’s what you should do.
January 28, 2013 2:54 am at 2:54 am #925046Torah613TorahParticipantI once asked someone if I had an ayin hara, and the person told me they can’t see it in public.

January 28, 2013 3:19 am at 3:19 am #925048mewhoParticipantperhaps being rear ended was instead of a big accident. how do you know that your car accident was not lessened from the removal of the ayin hora.

Good luck with that

January 28, 2013 12:33 pm at 12:33 pm #925051RobertzMemberAgree ! Like voodoo . If you fear it . It can & will consume every fiber of your psyche
January 28, 2013 2:57 pm at 2:57 pm #925053anon1m0usParticipantAvhaben: Sure, let’s playt this out ..
Me: “Honey, I demand you reimburse me the money you spent on this voodoo.”
My wife: “Sure, honey, can I borrow some money to pay you back?”
I think you misunderstood chazel when it says all her money is his. The drush on that means she spends all HIS money!!
Here’s the thing, like I said, I am a skeptic and do not believe in anything unless it logically makes sense and can be proven. So if i do not believe in an Ayin Horah, then I should not have any? So my only conclusion is that this is a scam because the lady said I had multiple.
January 28, 2013 3:25 pm at 3:25 pm #925054avhabenParticipantanon1m0us: You completely misunderstood. Of course you can’t demand any compensation from your wife, as she has no assets, it is all yours. But you have a legal right in beis din to demand that other women your wife gave (your) money to, to return it to you, as it was your money and your wife has no reshus to spend it without your permission.

Probably.

That’s ridiculous. Everything we have is a gift from Hashem; is a person not entitled to make a living? Even if you mean special talent, should MBD not charge for his CDs and concert appearances?
Should an artist give away paintings for free?

This is not he Halacha, otherwise, a woman could go into a Jewerly store, buy a necklace from a saleswoman. The husband decides the wife doesnt need a necklace and demands the store return his money. Never mind the item was marked down final sale.
The Husband tells the sales woman, give me a refund because I dont approve or I am going to Beis din.
Or even worse, A wife goes into a womens store to buy certain clothing items. The husband says No return them , Now there are sanitary issues to those items and if the store took them back they would have to throw them out
Stores would refuse to sell to women
January 28, 2013 4:29 pm at 4:29 pm #925057CuriosityParticipantThat’s a good Litmus test actually. If Ayin Hara lady refuses the beis din’s ruling, that would indicate how leshem shamayim she is or how much her “services” are just a scam. It’s a catch 22 for her. Besides… how much federal income tax did she report on that money your wife gave her? Is she a licensed business? I don’t mean you should be moser her, but a little “convincing” never hurt anyone… mwahaha… May you succeed in getting your money back – bli ayin hara.
January 28, 2013 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #925058avhabenParticipantzsd: It certainly is halacha. The key issue is whether she had reshus or not, either implied or expressed. In the OPs case, it is clear she had no reshus from him. Not even implied reshus.

She had no Reshus in my example and it puts jewish businesses at risk, they will not ask, DO YOU HAVE YOUR HUSBANDS PERMISSION.
Instead of shopping on 47th St for the necklace, she can go to a store like Jareds or Macys where Beis Din has no power
or instead shopping on 13th Ave for the clothing, she can go to Victorias Secret again where Beis Din is powerless
January 28, 2013 5:48 pm at 5:48 pm #925060anon1m0usParticipantDaasYochid: You cannot compare entertainment with this case. If she asked for a donation it is one thing, but to charge for something you do not even know exists? When you visit your rosh yeshiva or Rebbe for a brocha, does he charge you or you give a donation?

I am just curious about other people’s opinion on the ayin horah business and it’s legitimacy.

Doesn’t he get a salary (although I suppose it’s supposed to be s’char batala).
Can a doctor charge?
Besides, this is entertainment. 🙂

You’re right, not because a woman doesn’t need reshus, but because the store owner can claim “hamotzi mechavero alav haraya”.
January 29, 2013 1:07 am at 1:07 am #925066avhabenParticipantDY: Why would you assume the case of a wife spending her husband’s money without reshus to be different than if someone took his dorm roommate’s money and bought something with it, without reshus? (Assuming it could be proven it was the roommate’s money and the roommate claims he gave no reshus.) Would you similarly say that the storeowner could keep the money with hamotzi mechavero alav haraya?
January 29, 2013 4:52 pm at 4:52 pm #925067sam4321ParticipantYou should read Faith and Folly by Rabbi Yaakov Hillel who is a esteemed kabbalist and he explains that there are many charlatans out there.Someone who learns Torah for years and years are the ones who know the secrets of the Torah.

remove an ayin horah?
