Removing crayon from fabric is done by putting a clean cloth over the crayon mark and rubbing a very warm iron over it. The crayon should melt onto the cloth. I’m not sure why it wouldn’t melt onto the hat as well, though so maybe check with a dry cleaners for input.
Try ironing the underside, with the hat upside down and the crayon on the cloth. You could also try a stiff brush, and even some gentle sandpapering could work. These last two ideas I have used with success, by the way.
Really not sure you”ll have success with any of the suggestions you got, but I guess it can’t hurt to try.
Sorry to admit it but your post gave me my CR smile of the day…
Picturing a little guy with sad eyes and a messy ponytail sitting dejectedly in the naughty corner having some time out, wondering why nobody appreciates his artistic accomplishments.
Don’t worry, Golfer. No one got punished. I didn’t catch him or her (probably him) in the act. But it was enough to tell him off. My feeling is that when you don’t catch them in the act they forget about it and the punishment goes to the wrong place. ???? ??? ??? ???? ???.
Scrape it with a razor or brush it with a stiff wire brush. Be gentle with the brush because you don’t want to melt the wax. If you damage the surface of the felt you can renew it with sandpaper.
