why does the updated post sometimes not appear on the CR main page? not sure what you are asking
May 8, 2009 4:07 am at 4:07 am #1048493anonymisssParticipantyes, mysterymod (thanx, aussie, for that name) didn’t i do that nicely? yes
~a~
May 8, 2009 4:25 am at 4:25 am #1048494kapustaParticipantIt’ll say last update 5 minutes ago by user ABC and the actual thread (like the comment-viewing part) says DEF updated 2 minutes ago. sometimes we approve things out of sequence. it is another way in which we like to confuse the users.
May 8, 2009 4:27 am at 4:27 am #1048495JaxMemberThanx mod for answering!
anonymisss: i did that special for someone the favourite!
May 8, 2009 4:34 am at 4:34 am #1048496anonymisssParticipantwhy, thank you, mr. mod.

May 10, 2009 3:00 am at 3:00 am #1048498coke not pepsiMemberwhy does it take longer for a new thread to appear then for a new post? we do a cost benefit analysis of each new thead proposal. translated to english this means how much cost (grief to the moderators) will this thread bring vs. the benefit to the users. This takes time. Other times, the topic of the proposed thread has been touched upon in several other threads (some of which have been closed – see the first half of this answer) and is no longer going to provide anything new to the users. Additionally, some posts take longer even though the cost benefit analysis is usually quicker, because of the nature and/or length of the post. On the other hand, some posts are introduced to the delete key very quickley because the user decides to post the very same question in more than one thread!
May 10, 2009 3:33 am at 3:33 am #1048501coke not pepsiMemberok -so why do you sometimes not post a thread and sometimes post it and say already discussed (w/ a link) and then close it because the topic that you wanted to start has been covered many times in many threads where you may have already commented. some of these threads have already been closed and others may still be open, if I were to show a link to these threads the same arguments would be brought up again with no benefit to the users and a high cost to the moderators.
May 10, 2009 3:41 am at 3:41 am #1048503JaxMembermods: what’s the hardest part of being a mod? deleting silly comments and quesions from the users. that and being away from the family for 3 weeks at a time for the quarterly moderators meetings in our top-secret location in Eretz Yisroel.
May 10, 2009 3:48 am at 3:48 am #1048504JaxMembermod: wow that’s gatta be tough! my sympathy to you!
May 10, 2009 3:56 am at 3:56 am #1048506coke not pepsiMemberno-i am asking why do you sometimes just delete a thread without even posting it, so the person who tried to start it has no clue where it was talked about previously…….i understand when you post the OP and then close it-while you specificity where to find other threads about the topic I have answered this question now twice. you know why your proposed thread was deleted. closed.
May 10, 2009 4:08 am at 4:08 am #1048507kapustaParticipantmod considering that first post (reply) to CNP, thats an awful lot of hands. 😉 on the other hand, it could be that we are highly skilled and talented moderators so that it only appears that way. btw, we are really good at editing and the 5 minute rule does not apply to us.
May 10, 2009 4:10 am at 4:10 am #1048509shyMemberThis thread is to ask appropriate questions to the moderators not for conversations with other users. users are requested use other appropriate threads for conversations. Addtionally, users are requested to not answer the questions that are posed to the highly skilled and well trained moderators for one of two reasons 1) they are not moderators and 2) they don’t know the reasons we moderate as we do, unless the question has already been answered in which case there is no need for the user to answer.
May 10, 2009 4:21 am at 4:21 am #1048511kapustaParticipanttalanted
or do you just talk about fingers the way us simpletons talk about hands? btw, is spelling among your “talants” ? 😉 no. and I have moderated many of your posts and it isn’t a talent of yours either

May 11, 2009 7:09 pm at 7:09 pm #1048516areivimzehlazehParticipantis mod42 still a mod?
why would you think otherwise?
May 11, 2009 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #1048517areivimzehlazehParticipantThis thread is not open for mods to ask members questions- it’s for members to ask mods questions and for mods to answer those questions asked by the members. please rephrase that in the form of a question.
May 11, 2009 8:21 pm at 8:21 pm #1048518mepalMemberIs it possible that since mod42 created a new thread today (about postal stamps) he’s still a moderator? yes
May 11, 2009 8:22 pm at 8:22 pm #1048519squeakParticipantWHAT IS “This thread is not open for mods to ask members questions- it’s for members to ask mods questions and for mods to answer those questions asked by the members.”
I’ll take “Mods” for $800.
May 11, 2009 8:45 pm at 8:45 pm #1048520areivimzehlazehParticipantsqueak- will it buy you Maftir Yonah??
May 11, 2009 10:12 pm at 10:12 pm #1048521kapustaParticipantnow that we know they can be disclosed, will they be? the parts that can be disclosed have been disclosed already
May 11, 2009 10:16 pm at 10:16 pm #1048522areivimzehlazehParticipantno- we need to ask them to disclose specific portions.
Mods- why did you choose the mod # you did? What is the significance to you? see the previous answer
May 11, 2009 10:22 pm at 10:22 pm #1048523areivimzehlazehParticipantok we’ll start at the top.

May 11, 2009 10:32 pm at 10:32 pm #1048524areivimzehlazehParticipantames- you’re either in competition with Jax (CR trivia) or you belong in an institution for CR members 😉
May 11, 2009 11:18 pm at 11:18 pm #1048525anonymisssParticipantareivim, that would be the YWN home. ames, you’ll need to get a referral from your psychiatrist to be submitted.

May 12, 2009 5:42 pm at 5:42 pm #1048528mepalMemberMods, can you please provide an answer to the question asked in the random question thread, the last post on page 68 and first post on page 69? (I can’t copy and paste on this computer, otherwise, I would’ve provided the link)
Sorry, going to need a link. I cannot find it
May 12, 2009 6:02 pm at 6:02 pm #1048529squeakParticipantWhat steps have the mods taken to protect themselves from swine flu?
We have sterilized the CR. As you have noticed a number of users have “disappeared” while others have been banned.
Your safety is our priority. We know you have choices and we thank you for choosing us

May 12, 2009 8:51 pm at 8:51 pm #1048532areivimzehlazehParticipantI give all the mods 1 guess as to which mod is currently having a nervous breakdown(?)
(this has a question mark at the end- it’s a question)
May 12, 2009 9:32 pm at 9:32 pm #1048533coke not pepsiMemberyros and torahtziva were the same person?
May 12, 2009 10:14 pm at 10:14 pm #1048534May 13, 2009 2:12 am at 2:12 am #1048535JaxMemberthanx mods! you guys rock!
oops no question there! my bad!
May 13, 2009 2:32 am at 2:32 am #1048536an open bookParticipantdo you like being a moderator? this is probably the most asked question and probably one of the best question asked which by the way itf you read the questions that really isn’t saying much, but I digress. as I was saying that from a question popularity perspective based on th number of emails, posts etcetera, although many questions are asked and some with great frequency and some by the same poster over and over again, this question tops that all, not so much in originality but more in a genuine concern for our feelings and a genuine thirst for knowledge without any further elaboration, statement, testimonial or declaration I will answer your question once I go back to the beginning and re-read it because I have forgotten what is was. ok, let’s see. m m m mm m mmmm hmm, the short answer to this very good question is sometimes
May 13, 2009 2:50 am at 2:50 am #1048537an open bookParticipantnow that you mention it, sorry. i was thinking of adding this but what i wanted to know was would you recommend it to someone else? only those that have a LOT of experience throwing their hands over that heads and screaming WHAT, how can I ever approve that, what was the user thinking sometimes you have to simulate pulling your hair out or banging your head against a wall.
May 13, 2009 3:03 am at 3:03 am #1048538an open bookParticipantk thanks, you’re very helpful, mysterymod 🙂 (please ignore this as it is not a question directed toward the mods.)
May 13, 2009 3:06 am at 3:06 am #1048539mepalMemberooooooh… sorrry…hope I never did THAT to you…
May 13, 2009 4:02 am at 4:02 am #1048540JaxMembermods: who’s the first poster, to start posting once they see updates happening?! depends, sometimes it is me and I post it before I even appove the update
post – go figure… oh sometimes it is not me.
May 13, 2009 5:06 am at 5:06 am #1048541JaxMembermod: & i thought it would be me!
May 13, 2009 5:28 am at 5:28 am #1048542GoldieLoxxMemberare all mods equal or are some ranked higher than others?? do some have more privileges?? other than the editer, who has final say? there is clearly defined order of each moderator within the ranks and each knows their proper place within the ranks. The one with the final say is the highest ranked moderator and that information is classified
May 13, 2009 2:07 pm at 2:07 pm #1048543noitallmrParticipantWhat so there are like Mod sergeants and Mod lieutenants (yup I DID use dictionary for that one!!!) and stuff? Weird! yes. and Mod enlistees, but they can’t Mod yet. they just get us more coffee before the cup runs out. btw, we rate and rank the users also.
And the editor is the King of the Class? final say in all matters (except when he isn’t looking we slip in a few gags about him)
May 13, 2009 3:35 pm at 3:35 pm #1048544JewessMemberSo there’s like a mod internship or something before an individual gets to be mod? a summer internship program
What benefits to mods get? we get as much coffee as we want to buy.
Is there room for growth in the mod industry? yes, send cake
What’s a typical mod day like? there is no typical day. we take whatever is sent our way.
May 13, 2009 3:55 pm at 3:55 pm #1048545squeakParticipantmod, can you tell noitallmr that it’s leftenant, not lieutenant? What’s with all the fake Britishers, anyway?
May 13, 2009 5:40 pm at 5:40 pm #1048546mepalMemberMods, how many editors (as in, ‘key master’) are there? Is there only one?
May 13, 2009 6:30 pm at 6:30 pm #1048547mepalMemberames: I was talking about the ‘key master’. The editor that posts every so often. Is it only 1 guy or are there more than one.
May 13, 2009 7:47 pm at 7:47 pm #1048548areivimzehlazehParticipantmods- a while back I tried starting a topic called “bang your head here”. After reading your comments above I’m wondering why it wasn’t approved(?) because too many people would be breaking their monitors. besides, I clearly wrote banging there heads against a wall (and if I didn’t I will edit it to say that)
May 13, 2009 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm #1048549noitallmrParticipantsqueak- What dya mean fake Britishers??? I’m 100% genuine British. Thats how you spell it no? Anyway im on Mozilla and thats how it spelt it but your right that you PRONOUNCE it LEFtenant…
May 13, 2009 9:16 pm at 9:16 pm #1048550squeakParticipantNow I’m really confused. How do I pronounce it? Looooo tenent. And I spell it lieutenant. You blokes are supposed to say it and spell it leftenant. But what would someone with a doctorate in language arts know?
