I would like to apology for the posting I authored on the organization Uri L’Tzedek.
I used personal attacks and name-calling on this issue and greatly apologize. The internet is not an appropriate forum for doing this, and I should have left it up to the gedolei yisroel to address this matter.
I would never want to hurt another yid’s feelings, and I am pained that other yidden were hurt by my poor choice of words.
Moderators, no good came out of this. A member of my mishpacha with a shaychus to the Open Orthodox community was hurt badly and wrongly implicated in this. His rebbeim were hurt, as well. And I also used dishonesty in making a point that I felt would be taken stronger by the oilem.
I would ask the moderators to please remove this posting for the sake of shalom bayis.

January 15, 2013 8:57 pm at 8:57 pm #920206popa_bar_abbaParticipantYes, it is unfair to leave us with false impressions. You should tell us which part wasn’t true so we don’t continue to believe it.

And RebD, you can join mine to the requests for a little clarification please, if you truly wish to apologize.

January 16, 2013 5:03 pm at 5:03 pm #920210rebdonielMemberI made hurtful personal speculative attacks on people’s motivations that I have no way of demonstrating are either true or not true. I have no way of deciphering what R’ Yanklowitz’s motivations are in donating a sefer torah to a black hat shul, and for making such claims, I need to apologize.
I still don’t waver in my political and economic beliefs, but making ad hominem attacks were unwarranted.
I can say that I think R’ Weiss is mistaken for calling for outlawing firearms after Newtown, and that the socialist policies of ULT are mistaken, but it’s unbecoming and incorrect for me to call the man a publicity whore and to call its leaders reshaim.
And this is why I’d like to clarify and apologize to the affected parties for my ona’as devarim.
January 16, 2013 5:27 pm at 5:27 pm #920211popa_bar_abbaParticipantHis motivations for donating a sefer torah were not really the main point of your argument, and was not really much of an attack either.
And I don’t think you did call anyone a rasha. Although, now that you mention it, I would be happy to do that for you (Weiss is a rasha, weiss is a rasha, weiss is a rasha).
You did call him a publicity whore. I have no idea if he is or isn’t, so if you say you don’t have information that he is, then I applaud you for apologizing.
January 16, 2013 7:46 pm at 7:46 pm #920212midwesternerParticipantAnd I thought that “Weiss is a publicity whore” is one of themost accurate lines I’ve seen in the coffeeroom in a long time!!
January 16, 2013 7:54 pm at 7:54 pm #920213☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes, midwesterner, but muttar l’shanos mipnei hasholom. So I don’t blame rd for retracting.
