With the YWN Coffee Room growing fast, perhaps you would like to post some new threads and there are no proper categories for them.
So feel free to let us know right here in this thread what those categories are.
Please use this thread for that purpose only.
PS: When posting new threads, always choose a category, and not the default.

Just an idea. Maybe you can set it up that when someone starts a new thread they can’t post it until they pick a category because many times we forget to look lower on the page…
June 29, 2010 3:59 am at 3:59 am #782709aries2756ParticipantI would like a thread about being “less judgemental and more understanding”. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors or within the privacy of someone else’s daled amos. So the constant judgment on another’s lack of tznius, reasons for going to a hotel for Pesach and other issues that were discussed here brings out the need to show others our “holier than thou” side. I would like to see a thread about “not judging people until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes” and what the Torah says about that, and how bringing ourselves to that madreigah will be more helpful in teaching others and helping others aspire to raise themselves to higher madreigos as well.
This is for new categories to be added by the admin. Feel free to start your thread now.
June 29, 2010 5:46 am at 5:46 am #782710Ragachovers AssistantMemberHow about a “Parsha” Forum, about the weekly parsha. In this forum, people discuss the parsha, leave questions/answers. After a year, we publish an extract of these discussions under “The Yeshivaworld Parsha Review – Volume One.
June 29, 2010 5:08 pm at 5:08 pm #782711yeshivaguy1ParticipantIn the yated every week they have a chinuch roundtable where mechanchim from all over answer chinuch questions. I was thinking that someone should post the question of the week and everyone could put in their opinions. The same could be done with controversial letters to the editor
June 30, 2010 5:45 pm at 5:45 pm #782712I can only tryMemberAn employment forum containing subtopics such as:
1) Seeking employment.
2) Job opportunities.
4) Upcoming seminars and job fairs.
5) Etc.
People have started threads on the above subjects, but they quickly move off of the main page.
January 26, 2011 3:59 am at 3:59 am #782713Duct TapeMemberHow about a DIY section?
A category where individuals can post ideas on interesting “how to” projects
This category would also be useful for people looking for advice for easy repair’s
January 26, 2011 4:07 am at 4:07 am #782714ItcheSrulikMemberHow about an unmoderated section? RabbiofBerlin recently tried to start a thread summarizing shtiklach from a sefer. It got closed after two posts and he didn’t get anything up from the sefer itself. Is this yeshiva world or “we-can’t-talk-torah-because-it’s-too-controversial-world?”
Feel free to visit the unmoderated websites. There are no shortage of them. You are correct. This is the Yeshiva World.
January 26, 2011 4:59 am at 4:59 am #782715real-briskerMemberduct tape – That would be a great idea

January 26, 2011 2:04 pm at 2:04 pm #782717Derech HaMelechMemberI think a good idea would be that when a post gets deleted that there is automatically an e-mail sent to the poster explaining why the post was deleted. For instance there can be a list of rules and the moderator can just enter a number from that list that automatically sends the appropriate explanation of offense.
For me at least this would be very helpful because I’ve been noticing lately that my posts seem to be getting deleted and I can’t always determine the reason.
January 26, 2011 3:10 pm at 3:10 pm #782718ItcheSrulikMemberCan’t talk Torah because it’s “yeshiva world.” Gotcha.
January 26, 2011 5:38 pm at 5:38 pm #782719MDGParticipantActually, when you don’t have moderators the whole message board goes down hill fast. Look at the Yahoo comment section; it became infested with trolls. Even Yahoo shut it down for a couple years.
January 26, 2011 6:19 pm at 6:19 pm #782720Duct TapeMemberThanks real-brisker
January 26, 2011 7:01 pm at 7:01 pm #782721hanibParticipantI like yeshivaguy1’s idea – discussing some of the articles from Hamodia, Mishpacha, yated ne’eman, etc.

Sorry
Sorry – don’t send. I sent it twice by accident and I don’t know how to delete it
January 26, 2011 7:37 pm at 7:37 pm #782723real-briskerMemberyeshivaguy – There is a reason why mechanchem nswer the questions, not anyonomus bloggers.
January 26, 2011 11:38 pm at 11:38 pm #782724ItcheSrulikMemberMDG: If it’s a small message board, populated mostly by relatively sane people, it can work very well without moderation.
January 27, 2011 1:44 am at 1:44 am #782725eclipseMemberSomething should be done to get people to read the dvar torah posts (blue section).Or acknowledge the divrei torah if enjoyed.Anyone with me on that?
January 27, 2011 1:44 am at 1:44 am #782726eclipseMemberemphasis on “if enjoyed”.If not,shhhhhh.:)
January 27, 2011 9:22 pm at 9:22 pm #782727Duct TapeMemberSo powers that be…DIY section?

July 1, 2011 8:58 pm at 8:58 pm #782729minyan galMemberAfter reading the thread called “shhhhhhhhhh”, I think it would be great if their were a forum specifically for teenagers. Any opinions???? Shabbat Shalom to everyone.
July 1, 2011 11:28 pm at 11:28 pm #782730always hereParticipantminyan gal~ I definitely agree that there should be a ‘cocoa room’ for the young’uns. 🙂
July 3, 2011 3:29 am at 3:29 am #782731always hereParticipant& maybe a ‘cocktail room’ for more mature threads? 😉 j/k
July 3, 2011 3:54 am at 3:54 am #782732brotherofursParticipantlol but we need advice from the older people ;)!
I think there should be a “tzeniut” category, i think it has a lot of threads and would be useful
July 3, 2011 1:22 pm at 1:22 pm #782733charliehallParticipantI’d love a Daf Yomi forum, perhaps moderated by a rabbi who is leading a DY shiur.
July 3, 2011 1:31 pm at 1:31 pm #782734zahavasdadParticipantI am married but it seems there might be a place for those who are not married to go
July 3, 2011 5:21 pm at 5:21 pm #782735Howabout things/activity suggestions for Sundays for folks who don’t go to the country. Included can be suggestions at either no or little cost as money is a great factor for many staying home for the summer.
Included too should be activities for older singles who would love to be away with their own families and are still waiting for the right shidduch.
Chesed organizations looking for volunteers should also post their requests!
July 4, 2011 7:15 am at 7:15 am #782736600 Kilo BearMemberSomething like “kvetching” or “yachne” where people can rant.
July 4, 2011 8:15 pm at 8:15 pm #782738ursula momishMemberIt certainly looks as though you need a “Please Can I Have a Subtitle Under My ScreenName” forum. Alternatively, if one more thread on that subject opens up, a forum will be needed for “How to Deal With Subtitle-Seeking Threads.”
