This past week, I was in 2 different cars this weeks, one driven by American tourist, and the other by an American avreich.
Both of them nearly got into an accident, simply because they didn’t know the local laws. One, nearly crashed into someone in a traffic circle, because he thought that he had precedence over someone in the circle already. The other guy, went in the wrong direction a coupe times, and almost ran over in the crosswalks (pedestrians have precedence).
Therefore, I would like to notify all the tourists, yeshiva bochrim, and avrechim, to consider getting familiar with the local laws and roads before driving around in a 3,000 pound killing machine.
(This post was written about Americans, but it may apply to others too.)

to “a couple times, and almost ran over some people in the crosswalks”
Thanks.

2) Israeli drivers have a bad reputation themselves. In their own country, no less.

Did you omit an all important & vital piece of information that the other guy maybe was from Britain or Australia? & thought s/he is supposed to be driving on the left.
Perhaps the other guy thought that Israel was still under the British Mandate so that s/he drove on the left? If so, this other guy is almost 6&1/2 decades out of date.
p.s. I have driven plenty in North America {USA & Canada} & plenty in Europe {including the UK} but always use Egged (& now of-course the wonderful overcrowded streetcar} in Israel and would never rent a car in Israel. I also don’t allow my spouse nor my kids to rent a car in Israel.

In the examples you mentioned, these drivers should not drive in America either, before learning the rules of the road in the state they are driving in. In America, too, pedestrians in the crosswalk and cars already in the traffic circle have the right of way.

In my little part of America, crosswalks are only by stop signs and traffic lights, and traffic circles don’t exist.

The stories you heard happened to be bad drivers also in America. Also, where I live there are pedestrian crosswalks in the middle of main streets and we do have traffic circles, so I cannot understand why those people did not know how to drive.
