For what’s it’s worth, I know a woman who’s a former teacher, and now works for a software company. She will not allow her children to play games on the computer. Ever.
Because she doesn’t want her children to think of computers as toys. They are equipment for doing work. Also, computer games can be addictive. (So can the CR.)
computer games can indeed be addictive, but I used to know a kid who had his nose in books so much that he totally withdrew from society. Nebach he became socially inept.
So really anything in excess can be bad. As far as computer games for children, I love the idea of chanoch lnaar al pi darko, if a child is drawn to the technology, go for it, supervised.
I dont know, I dont go for the idea of children playing on a computer even if its educational. We have a computer at home and my children dont know about it even. There are so many educational board/card games out there why get them glued to a screen?
Somebody once asked me why she should buy a set of encyclopedias when it’s all available online. The reason is you can sit down with a book. Browse through it. Discover things you might not have thought of looking up. Pretty hard to do that online.
Most computer games can be played alone. Isn’t it nicer to play games with other people and learn how to interact?
working, why do they need to be glued to the screen? As I said, ANYTHING in excess can be bad.
haifagirl, uh I guess you don’t research much on the computer it is very simple to look many things up and even get a bit fer blunged while online. As far as interacting, yes it is very important which is why ANYTHING in excess can be bad
