Anyone have a recipes for mixed drinks (alcoholic)?
Please post them below.
November 12, 2008 12:57 am at 12:57 am #908395oomisParticipantI like pina coladas, though only rarely at a simcha. You need cream of coconut, rum, and pineapple juice to make it. The recipe probably would be on the cream of coconut can.

Dare to drink this one:
“Chemical Ali”
Fill a large glass with ice and add the following:
100 mls absinthe (Pernod absinthe 68% is kosher and so are a couple of others)
50 mls rum
50 mls triple sec
50 mls Drambuie (or Benedictine if you hold by it)
Sprite to fill glass
See you next Purim :).
November 12, 2008 2:49 pm at 2:49 pm #908397noitallmrParticipantHow about Advocat & Chocolate Liqueur? Really delicious…
Just for interest is it not a bit of a random time of year to ask about alcohol mixes??? 🙂
November 12, 2008 4:24 pm at 4:24 pm #908398squeakParticipantHere’s an easy one for the winter:
1 shot of Irish Whiskey
1 teaspoon of lemon/lime juice
2 teaspoons sugar
6 cloves
4 shots of hot water
Add the water last; the other ingredients should be stirred together before adding water.
Serve in an old fashioned glass – it looks like tea, tastes like tea, but has a nice zing.
November 12, 2008 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #908400mdlevineMemberok – I have a recipe
ingredients
1) a slice of homemade apple pie
2) a scoop of vanilla ice cream
3) chocolet liqueur
4) creme de minthe
put the ice cream on the pie
pour some chocolate liqueur over the ice cream
pour some creme de minthe over the chocolate liqueur
November 12, 2008 4:51 pm at 4:51 pm #908401arcParticipantVodka: and iced tea,fruit juice,lime juice,.
white russian:
2 parts kahlua like drink
1 part vodka

bourbon and amaretto. adjust amounts to your liking but the amaretto makes it sweet and takes away the sting.
Drambouie is a shailoh be careful.
anything straight is the best way.
November 12, 2008 5:11 pm at 5:11 pm #908402JosephParticipantWow. Look at all these shikkurim here!

November 12, 2008 5:21 pm at 5:21 pm #908404JewessMemberHmmm…Why won’t my recipes get posted. They’re kosher…alright, your loss.
November 12, 2008 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm #908405JosephParticipantsqueak – as long as you yell “L’Chaim”!
November 12, 2008 5:45 pm at 5:45 pm #908406JosephParticipantJewess, did they by any chance contain anything “red”?
November 12, 2008 6:07 pm at 6:07 pm #908407squeakParticipantJoseph – contrary to what you may have heard from your propaganda machine – the red stuff we make kiddush on is just wine. Not a reason to block on YW.
November 12, 2008 6:12 pm at 6:12 pm #908408JosephParticipantsqueak – contrary to what you may have thought from your copy of the NYTimes – humor has not been banned on YW.
November 12, 2008 6:31 pm at 6:31 pm #908409smalltowngirlMemberto enhance your Shabbos shloof –
1 shot of vodka
a splash of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
a squeeze of chocolate syrup
over ice
/////////////////////////////////////////////////
glass of orange juice
shot of peach schnapps
little vodka is optional
This, if you want to “eye” it can be done nicely of simchas in a punch bowl or pitcher
November 12, 2008 7:17 pm at 7:17 pm #908410feivelParticipantGREAT ON A HOT DAY
called: Irish Tea
take one drop of Glen Garioch, 1958
put it in a large tall glass
swirl it around for a while until most of the drop evaporates
then fill the glass with fresh-brewed iced tea, ice, preferred sweetener, and freshly squeezed lemon.
November 12, 2008 8:05 pm at 8:05 pm #908411squeakParticipantJoseph – I was also being humorous (and purposely missing your joke). Now that I think of it, it was a bit ghoulish.
November 12, 2008 8:13 pm at 8:13 pm #908412JosephParticipantsqueak – Don’t be so hard on yourself.
November 13, 2008 3:26 am at 3:26 am #908413TOHIGHSCHOOLGUYMemberhow about a classic … like bay breeze or sea breeze?

November 13, 2008 2:59 pm at 2:59 pm #908416jewishfeminist02MemberActually, I’m in Israel, where the drinking age is eighteen, so…
November 13, 2008 3:44 pm at 3:44 pm #908417squeakParticipantIn Israel I thought that the age you could buy liquor is when you are tall enough to see over the counter?
November 13, 2008 3:51 pm at 3:51 pm #908418noitallmrParticipantjewishfeminist02- No wonder. So you drink always before you post??? 🙂
November 13, 2008 6:34 pm at 6:34 pm #908419jewishfeminist02MemberVery funny.
Actually, the only alcohol I have drunk since landing in Israel has been Kiddush wine. I’ve only been to a bar once, and I didn’t drink anything there.
November 13, 2008 6:47 pm at 6:47 pm #908420yoshiMembersqueak – You’re thinking of cigarettes 😉
November 13, 2008 7:00 pm at 7:00 pm #908421squeakParticipantActually, both. The first time I laid eyes on a bottle of zechs und neintziger it was in the hands of a lad that could not have been more than 7 or 8, carrying it home from the store.

November 14, 2008 3:07 am at 3:07 am #908423noitallmrParticipantI’d recommend Red- Bull with Vodka. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh…Just watch yourself though!
November 14, 2008 4:22 am at 4:22 am #908424beaconParticipantnoitallmr- RedBull is kosher? Why is there no hechsher anywhere on it? I’m confused because my workmate drinks it but I could never find the hechsher…
November 16, 2008 11:41 pm at 11:41 pm #908425gitty —MemberFor a delicious spiked hot chocolate, add 1/2 shot of Kahlua and a full shot of the Godiva chocolate liquor of your choice. Wonderful on cold nights.
November 17, 2008 2:12 am at 2:12 am #908426yashrus20Membergitty do you know where I can get kahlua thats kosher? I heard a rumor (I hope) that it makes a difference where its imported from.
November 17, 2008 3:41 am at 3:41 am #908427gitty —MemberI’m not sure. If you can’t find kosher Kahlua, just use the Godiva which I know has a hechsher. It’s delicious either way. Personally I like the milk chocolate flavor but it comes in several varieties.
November 17, 2008 4:20 am at 4:20 am #908428oomisParticipantIs Frangelico kosher these days? That would sub nicely for the kahlua, I would think. If you use Godiva liquor make sure it is not milchig, if you are eating a fleishig meal. I think that the white chocolate and milk chocolate varieties are dairy.
November 17, 2008 3:37 pm at 3:37 pm #908429squeakParticipantre Kahlua: The rumor you may be referring to is that if you buy it directly from Mexico it is kosher, and that the only problem is the lack of kashrus at the US bottling plant. Whether or not this was true at one time, IT IS NOT TRUE now. You can call a kashrus agency to confirm this/discuss the rumor. Kahlua is history (to the kosher market).
November 17, 2008 3:56 pm at 3:56 pm #908430JosephParticipantUnless, of course, you are one of the afficianado’s that stocked up on Kahlua while it was still made Kosher…
November 17, 2008 5:12 pm at 5:12 pm #908432squeakParticipantJoseph – please, not from you! You should be yelling Ma’aras Eyin!!!
November 17, 2008 5:40 pm at 5:40 pm #908433Dr Bert MillerParticipantI know someone who did that. I think he has three bottles left…
November 17, 2008 6:35 pm at 6:35 pm #908434JosephParticipantsqueak: At least this time the line isnt too bad!
Which reminds me of the (true) story:
Two guys were retiring from their Company. One was semi-frum and the other Asian. The Company planned a retirement party for them. The party was not going to be Kosher (food). The semi-frum guy invited his buddies, including a certain frum Yid. He told him that he was sorry but could’nt come since it wasn’t Kosher. The retiree said, nu come and don’t eat.
Well the party came and went. The frum guy of course was a no-show. After the party the 2 retirees bumped into the frum guy. So the semi-frum guy asked him why didn’t you come? So the frum guy said ”Morris said I can’t come.” Morris? Morris, who? asked the Asian. ”Morris Eyin” said the Yid.
The semi-frum guy, red in the face, shlepped the Asian away (who still had no idea who this Morris Eyin was), without another word.
Emesdika maaisa!
June 24, 2009 6:30 am at 6:30 am #908435JewessMemberI remember this thread and I loved this thread…except for the fact that my recipes were banished to cyberhell.
Oomis (from 7 months ago), Frangelico is Kosher, (I just checked my bottle, it has an OU on the back) but it’s hazelnut, not chocolate so it can’t replace Kahlua.
Godiva chocolate liquor with Frangelico hazelnut liquor and vodka over ice, “shaken, not stirred!” (raio: 2-1-2)…yum yum.
Apple and Eve’s Mango Passion 100% juice and vodka (equal amounts) with a splash of Triple Sec…yum.

June 24, 2009 1:38 pm at 1:38 pm #908439A600KiloBearParticipantBS”D
What can I do? Everclear is what they gave me to drink in the rehab center when I was getting over my addiction to radiator coolant :).
June 24, 2009 1:51 pm at 1:51 pm #908440mepalMemberKilobear, my brothers found that in Israel and brought it home with them. They actually drink it when they’re really in a nutty mood.
Supposedly, it costs cheaper then regular rubbing alcohol (in Israel) so my grandmother uses it to disinfect her apartment whenever she goes there to visit!
June 24, 2009 2:23 pm at 2:23 pm #908441A600KiloBearParticipantBS”D
Yes it is cheaper than rubbing alcohol! When I was in EY years ago I ran quite a bit and needed alcohol to cool my legs afterward. Price in the pharmacy was nuts – and drinking alcohol was not allowed on my student program so I was out of luck!
June 24, 2009 2:29 pm at 2:29 pm #908442mepalMemberOh well. Certain things can only happen in Israel!
Do you know if you’re allowed to buy it if you’re under 21?
June 24, 2009 2:53 pm at 2:53 pm #908443mepalMemberNever mind. My brothers were over 21 when they were in Israel.
June 24, 2009 3:07 pm at 3:07 pm #908444A600KiloBearParticipantBS”D
Drinking age in EY is 18 I believe. When I was there at that time I was 17 and became 18 but it was not enforced by police; it was only expulsion from my ulpan program that kept me from buying the stuff. I heard that especially because of the influx of immigrants from this vodka soaked region that the drinking law now is enforced, but really I don’t know.
June 24, 2009 3:49 pm at 3:49 pm #908445shaatraMemberOh Gosh, stick to water, it’ll do u good 🙂
