Who has a minhag to say Al Tira after Aleinu? It’s in all the Siddurim, that I’ve seen. And I’ve been to all sorts of Minyanim – Yeshivish, Chaisidish, Heimish, Sefardish, MO – and I never saw any of them say Al Tira.

March 19, 2012 12:52 am at 12:52 am #861365writersoulParticipantDon’t people usually say it under their breath? I mean, if it’s in the siddur, I assume people say it. Usually, in my shul at least, they only say until about “vaanachnu kor’im” out loud. After that is anyone’s guess.
March 19, 2012 1:08 am at 1:08 am #861366☕️coffee addictParticipantR Paysach Krohn said in one of his shmoozim that he says it (don’t remember why though)
March 19, 2012 1:17 am at 1:17 am #861367WolfishMusingsParticipantI don’t say it, but then again, I wouldn’t go by anything I do considering the fact that I am (according to Chosson) without kedusha and taharah.

March 19, 2012 1:50 am at 1:50 am #861369The little I knowParticipantThere is only one location (I believe) where these three psukim are connected, and one might presume that this is the origin for this brief paragraph of psukim. The reference to the origin of the minhag to recite these is brought in the Kitzur Shelo”h and in the Avodas Hakodesh from the Chida”h. The Medrash (Esther Rabah 7:17) states that when the gezeirah of Haman was released, he and his co-conspirators followed Mordechai and saw him stop three children emerging from yeshiva. Mordechai asked the first which was the last posuk he was learning, and he answered “Al Tiroh ……”. He asked the second child, “Utztu eitzah ……..”, and the third responded, “Ve’ad ziknah ……….”. The Taz writes that he recited these psukim while the Shat”z was saying Sim Shalom. Presumably, the reason to conclude tefiloh with this recitation is to recount the love of HKB”H for Am Yisroel in golus, that He will redeem us and return us to Him.

I say Al Tira, but not because its my Minhag. I just say it because its there. However, my father told me he says it too, so I guess it IS my minhag!
March 20, 2012 5:15 am at 5:15 am #861371Think firstMemberI say it because my father says it and I assume his father said it too.
March 20, 2012 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm #861372ItcheSrulikMemberIf you find out where it comes from that might give you some insight into who says it. (or should say it)
March 20, 2012 4:05 pm at 4:05 pm #861373susheeMemberItche: Where does it come from and what insight does it provide?
March 20, 2012 4:09 pm at 4:09 pm #861374popa_bar_abbaParticipantMy minyan sings it after the last kaddish. It took me several months before I found that out, because I was never there after the last kaddish. Or even before the last kaddish.

March 20, 2012 6:34 pm at 6:34 pm #861378fedup11210MemberRabbi Krohn has stated in numerous talks that he started saying it the day after 9/11/2001 based on a talk by Mrs. Reifer A”H, the principal of Shevach High School.
March 20, 2012 7:11 pm at 7:11 pm #861379cherrybimParticipant“and its in the siddur”.
I like saying Al Tira because I put it to Carlbach’s tune under my breath.
And who says both (or any) Kale Erech Apayims during the week before taking out the Torah?
March 21, 2012 12:12 pm at 12:12 pm #861380ItcheSrulikMembersushe: I don’t know. If I did, I would say
cherrybim: I say Minhag lita.
