When renting a room with Airbnb, do you get a private room or an entire house? Are you sharing and living with the owner of the house or do you have your own private entrance and living space? Is food or use of the kitchen facilities (i.e. fridge, etc.) included? Is Airbnb good when travelling with a family and children?
How does Airbnb pricing compare to renting a hotel room? What other factors are worthwhile considering when deciding whether to rent via Airbnb or a hotel?
And is it ever worth making one’s own home available for rent via Airbnb?

Just this past week a landlord was able to successfully evictva rent stabilized tenant who was advertising his apartment thru Airhub. Airhub was made illegal because hotels lose revenue, the city loses taxes and neighbors dislike strangers coming and going at all hours of day and night
February 22, 2015 12:28 pm at 12:28 pm #1209117JosephParticipantIt may be against the rules of a rent-regulated apartment, but it certainly is not illegal across the board in NYC to rent out an apartment using Airbnb. And, in fact, apartments in NYC are successfully rented out using Airbnb thousands of times each week. Hotels don’t like Airbnb because its added competition for them. Just like taxis don’t like Uber.
Besides, none of my questions in the OP asked for anyone’s legal opinions on its legality.

That is like an OP would ask about the advisability of participating in some dubious financial scam and complaining that commenters point out that the scam is illegal. The fact is that unlicensed B’n’B’s drive out of business those who are following the rules. Is it even mutar to do business with a known lawbreaker?

Anyone thinking of listing with AirBnB might want to consult with a lawyer first.

While some listings may breach some local zoning ordinances, Airbnb is a legal concept and service in NYC. Furthermore, I haven’t even limited this discussion to NYC. It is certainly legal and available in many jurisdictions in the US and worldwide. This discussion pertains to areas outside of NYC as well. NYC isn’t the entire world.
To reiterate, anyone with experience listing or renting a room with Airbnb please share your experience, what you think of it and how it worked out for you.

There are a lot of sweet little Airbnb rentals in/near Jerusalem. Just Googled it and some may be illegal?
I wonder if all of each renter’s reviews are real.
January 16, 2017 9:14 am at 9:14 am #1209125NechomahParticipantSubleasing apartments for short (a week) or slightly longer (a month around the holidays) term in Jerusalem is extremely common. Not illegal unless it is against the terms of the current tenant’s lease agreement with the apartment owner. Nothing to be excited about.
