Now that the ger topic is closed (finally!)
What’s the “official” way to petition and advise the mods to close a topic?
March 21, 2012 8:47 pm at 8:47 pm #861956LogicianParticipantYou could enter a conversation you know nothing about, be outrageous and indignant, and cause it to become explicit enough that it will be closed. Sound familiar ?
March 21, 2012 10:03 pm at 10:03 pm #861957ToiParticipantno pray tell!! and just for the record, holding hands is nehlal, and if you had a good shmooze youd know.

I’m not sure what you’re referring to
March 21, 2012 10:28 pm at 10:28 pm #861959YW Moderator-18ModeratorJust ask on that thread.
March 21, 2012 11:13 pm at 11:13 pm #861960dash™ParticipantPlease close this thread.
March 22, 2012 1:09 am at 1:09 am #861961LogicianParticipantHey Toi! You mean we can just continue that conversation here?! Here I go…

Conveniently before you could answer the question I put to you.

March 22, 2012 1:32 am at 1:32 am #861963Sam2ParticipantI think it’s silly. The mods can think for themselves. If you don’t like a thread, explain why. Posts just reading “Please close this thread” don’t add anything. If you’re uncomfortable, ignore the thread. If you think you have a reason to close it that the mods may not have thought of, say so. If you just want it closed, then the mods who haven’t closed it yet obviously disagree with you. A simple request to close doesn’t add anything.
I appreciate the support. Still, that thread got closed when someone requested it, and some mod (this one) got tired of modding the questionable comments on it.
March 22, 2012 1:54 am at 1:54 am #861964Sam2ParticipantIt bothers me in general. It’s not just the fact that that thread got closed when someone asked for it. I agree that it was controversial, probably a pain to moderate, and should not have lasted much longer. I just don’t think that a simple request to close a thread adds anything and it shouldn’t lead to closing a thread on its own.
March 22, 2012 3:24 am at 3:24 am #861965YW Moderator-20ModeratorSam, threads usually don’t get closed only because posters request it. Many such requests are ignored.
Threads are closed when they need to be closed.
March 22, 2012 3:36 am at 3:36 am #861966hershiMemberWolf – yitzchokm isn’t responsible for the thread closing before he could reply to you.
March 22, 2012 3:46 am at 3:46 am #861967midwesternerParticipantThere was a thread that bothered me very much earlier this week. I sent an email complaint to a friend. Voila, it disappeared! Not just closed, but gone! I explained my reasons for concern, he sent it to someone connected, and that was that.
I would suggest that if you give a coherent and reasonable explanation, they will listen. Not just “I think this thread should be closed!”
March 22, 2012 8:02 am at 8:02 am #861968ToiParticipantThats exactly what my kavanah was. This is a halachic issue, and can be discussed while keeping kids in the dark. One posters request to clse a thread doesnt mean im doing something wrong.

Can your friend make my parking tickets disappear?
