You are flaunting your ignorance. It’s known in the literature — and anyone with ADHD can tell you — that people with ADHD are *sometimes* capable of feats of mental stamina and concentration. You use that fact to dismiss the whole disorder, when it’s actually part of it. You’re dispensing wrong medical advice.

October 25, 2021 2:27 pm at 2:27 pm #2020581ADHDParticipantA person with ADHD is only a victim if he’s not allowed to use the tools that are necessary for him to succeed be it his Rebbe parents or partner wife her husband
October 26, 2021 1:36 am at 1:36 am #2020714Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipant> not even the thread of a Gemara without agonizing repetition that makes them look stupid in others’ eyes. Creativity can’t solve it, least of all a frum environment.
Gemora is obviously compiled by people with ADHD. Otherwise, why are we discussing how to water esrogim in the Rosh Hashonah?! What you are saying – ideally, such a kid should not be sitting in this type of a shiur, but have a different shiur more geared to him. You are confusing a particular style you are exposed to with “frum environment”. Or, as Melech Shlomo put it teach a kid “lifnei darko”.

Where each סוגיא is self contend all they have to know is right there in front of them printing out מערה מקומות is extremely helpful these kids know exactly what the responsible to know and then they won’t get so overwhelmed.
October 28, 2021 1:31 pm at 1:31 pm #2021933leibyParticipantinteresting how everyone thinks adhd is a hyperactivity problem. hyperactivity is only 1 of approx 20 symptoms and not necessary for a diagnosis. i believe we need to make a distinction between childhood and adult adhd with the adult version being the actual disorder. data shows that two thirds of children diagnosed with adhd outgrow it, that appears to signal that it is way over-diagnosed for all the valid arguments listed above. however adult adhd causes all sorts of issues including depression self-centeredness and social awkwardness because of failure to get things done and failure to properly perceive the world around them.
October 28, 2021 2:43 pm at 2:43 pm #2021978ADHDParticipantDear iby I just want to take issue on one point that you made the claim that ADHD people are self-centered that is not true I’m sure there are some who are just like anybody else but ADHD people are judged to be self-centered because they do things differently and they know what works for them so they come off as being self-centered but if you take the time to understand where they’re coming from you will see that it is not self-centered at all
