Let this be a positive thread about bringing Moshiach TOGETHER. We all want him to finally reveal himself. Ad Mosai?! We had enough of this depressing Galus!
Chabad does so much good. They are at the forefront of every crisis. And even if they aren’t, they spin it hat way. And the world needs to accept that. No one else does this type of Kiruv. Aish Hatorah and Ohr Sameach, Uri Zohar…all worthless and haven’t done anything. Chacham Ovadia Yosef built the largest school network in Eretz Yisroel, bringing back hundreds of thousands of Sefardim to Yiddishkeit. Not to mention that he had the largest Levaya in recorded history of the world (850,000 people – around 825,000 more people than the Rebbe had).
ACHDUS RABOYISAY! ACHDUS!

Did you slip on a yellow flag on the sidewalk last week or something?

November 27, 2017 2:15 pm at 2:15 pm #1412866noshoichisMemberGreat point made. Rav Ovadia Yosef made more Baalei Teshuva than anyone else —- besides the Holocaust denying Yosef Mizrachi who (in his won words) said “I made more baalei teshuva than anyone else in the history of the world”.
November 27, 2017 2:18 pm at 2:18 pm #1412869GadolhadorahParticipantI think this might have been posted before a Hatzalah van and first responders carryingsome sort of restraining device was seen near the corner of Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue dragging away this guy waving yellow flags singing yechi to a nigun that sounded like some uber Litvish rebbe doing the baracha for sefiras h’aoomer. How many divisive statements can you manage to fit into one paragraph labled “achdus”.
November 27, 2017 3:08 pm at 3:08 pm #1412989ShualiParticipant“Aish Hatorah and Ohr Sameach, Uri Zohar…all worthless and haven’t done anything.”
Huh?
Only their Rebbe is a true tzaddik.
Only their Rebbe can be the Nosi haDor.
All true Torah thoughts can be found in the Tanya, Igros, or other kisavim of one of the Rebbes of Lubavitch.
All worth gedolei Yisroel were at one time talmidim of “der Rebbe.”
Only their mikvaos are kosher.
Can this nonsense end already?November 27, 2017 3:22 pm at 3:22 pm #1413011Sechel HaYasharParticipant@mods,
I the interest of preserving whatever Ahavas And mutual respect there is, can this thread please be closed?November 27, 2017 5:09 pm at 5:09 pm #1413137Ex-CTLawyerParticipantAs a 5th generation OOT frum American Jew of Litvak and Yekke Misnagid descent I have observed that OOT we support all Jews and get along together.
We don’t have the luxury of dividing into small groups that is possible in Brooklyn, Lakewood, Yerishalayim, B’nei Brak, etc.
I daven Ashkenaz, but 30 years ago was President of a shul that davened Nusach HaAri with the Tehillas HaSem Siddur. My kids all went to Chabad day school, boys to Litvish high schools and Yeshiva before college/law school. My girls stayed home and went to a Chabad girls high school, then a year at Litvish seminary then college/law school.I write checks and support all shuls, day schools, mikvaos, yeshivos, burial societies, free loan associations, etc. in the area. It is important for me that they all survive.
I may not believe in Chassidus, but if I’m traveling it is a comfort to find a needed minyan organized by Chabad. I’ll even eat their food, the founder of OK Labs was from my home town of New Haven and from a fine family.
They may have different ways of constructing a mikva than others, but when our local mikva was undergoing renovation, Mrs. CTL was happy to use the Chabad mikva…our Rav had no issue with that.
Enough with the public name calling and shaming, there are more than enough Jew Hating Goyim out there, we should behave better.
November 27, 2017 5:09 pm at 5:09 pm #1413138Bratzki_PoretzParticipantFirst of all, @mods thank you for not censoring people’s opinions (unless of course they are mine, which were 100% respectful and historically accurate). I mean that fully, it will only be to the benefit of the frum world if people have a forum on which they can express their beliefs. Kudos!
Second of all, @achdus, so you’re a troll. Mazal tov, how unique and special you must feel. It’s also nice to see that your community is finally coming around to acknowledging the great importance of kiruv (particularly among sfardim, whom many in your community are still highly prejudiced against). It doesn’t seem that long ago that your greatest gedolim were trashing the rebbe for his kiruv efforts.
But i digress. Give me one example of Chabad undermining the important work of others? I’m sure you’ll be able to dig something up, but I’m also sure you’ll be able to find 10 examples of the opposite. Oh, and yes, achdus starts and ends with you yourself. But let’s be honest you don’t care about achdus, you care about trolling. An I get that, I really do. I also know that my reaction probably encourages your trolling, but like a sheeple i’ll indulge.
But go ahead dude, hate all you want. If it gives you satisfaction that you’ll trigger a few emotional people, kol hakavod. Otherwise your posts are a gorgeous display of cognitive dissonance.
Third of all, @shauli, not only do you clearly not get the joke, but every single one of your claims can be flipped back at you. In fact, I have personal experience with one. A litvish rov told a female relative of mine that he can’t promise her children will not be bnei niddah if she uses the lubavitch mikva (in a city that only had a lubavitch mikva for about 20 years).
November 27, 2017 5:54 pm at 5:54 pm #1413233ShualiParticipant@Beratzki Poretz – When Rav Landau ztzvk”l of Benei Brak wanted to build a mikveh there according to the shitah of CHaBa”D, the Chazon Ish told him, “Benei Brak never had such a mikveh and it doesn’t need one now. I’ve been told that as long as Rav Landau was living that mikveh was never built.
November 27, 2017 6:04 pm at 6:04 pm #1413249Bratzki_PoretzParticipant@shuali mah kesher? Sounds like a beautiful story of a Lubavitcher (R’ Landau) building a mikva not according to shitas Chabad…that counters your original comment…
November 27, 2017 10:41 pm at 10:41 pm #1413447kj chusidParticipantDear @Achdus, does chabad have many things wrong, of course however let me tell u a story from Shlome carlbach, “there was a man who saw Shloime carlbach hugging a real poshei yisruel, the man asked him “how can you hug such a person” Shloime answered “if he’s enough of a Jew for the nazis to have hated him, he’s enough of a Jew for me to love him”
November 27, 2017 10:43 pm at 10:43 pm #1413446Neville ChaimBerlinParticipantYeah, Lubavitchers are more likely to be OK with a non-Chabad mikveh than the other way around, so it’s not really a good path to go down to try to say they’re judgmental in this area. The point was brought up on another thread, but the context was different.
Bratzki, the “finding 10 examples of the opposite” is flawed logic that we’ve discussed on other threads. Stuff like “sure we insulted another big rabbi, but we fed 10 fried out Yidden this weekend, so it evens out.” That isn’t how it works.
November 28, 2017 1:05 am at 1:05 am #1413526Avi KParticipantAchdus, to which Chabad are you referring. Chabad is a chassidut without a rebbe. This is like being a ship without a captain. Anyone can claim to be a Chabadnik and speak for the entire group. This is also the problem with Breslov.
Noshoichis, Mizrahi also disagrees with the Gemara. He says that non-observant soldiers who die for Israel go to Gehinnom (Baba Batra 10a and see הרוגי מלכות on Toraland).
November 28, 2017 1:33 am at 1:33 am #1413540GAONParticipantWhile I did find it comical. To keep things in perspective,
“No one else does this type of Kiruv. Aish Hatorah and Ohr Sameach, Uri Zohar…all worthless and haven’t done anything”
While there is no doubt about all other movements like Shas has done etc. But Who was the brainchild of the very concept of BT movement in the first place?. There was a time that once someone was OTD or born secular he never returned.
Who is responsible for enabling such a possibility of all other wonderful movements to exist?
Does that indicate one as Gadol Hador? No. but…
Give credit where credit is due.November 28, 2017 1:53 am at 1:53 am #1413551slominerParticipantIs it historically accurate to say that Lubavitch were the first in America to do a lot of kiruv and all the other groups were Johnny come lately’s who merely followed in Lubavitch’s way, and wouldn’t have gone where they did if not for Lubavitch?
November 28, 2017 1:59 am at 1:59 am #1413556☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIs it historically accurate to say that Lubavitch were the first in America to do a lot of kiruv
Yes.
and all the other groups were Johnny come lately’s who merely followed in Lubavitch’s way, and wouldn’t have gone where they did if not for Lubavitch?
That’s pure conjecture. The reason others didn’t do it as soon is because they didn’t feel they were ready.
