Jax, this is the second time. The first time it happened, I just ignored it. By now, I’m afraid it’ll turn into a trend…

October 18, 2009 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #672779NY MomMemberI have so much respect for Rudy Giuliani.
Aside from the fact that he cleaned up NY and Times Square, and reduced crime enormously, I remember the time that he threw Yasser Arafat out of a concert at the Lincoln Center. He also returned a $10 Million donation to a Saudi prince after 9/11 when the Saudi suggested U.S. policies in the Middle East contributed to the September 11 attacks.
No apologies to dictators as we have seen recently.

That is why I suggest the law be changed. And contributions outlawed as bribery.
The most corrupt form of bribery is money.
I have to disagree. Perverting justice (pardoning someone, imprisoning someone just as two examples) in exchange for something is far worse.
Money is the most fungible form of bribery.
Apparently not.
My sixth-grade (or so) history book listed him as a Federalist.
Encarta says that although Washington did not belong to the Federalist party, Its early leaders included Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, Gouverneur Morris, James Madison, and George Washington.
Wikipedia says: Although never officially joining the Federalist Party, he supported its programs and was its inspirational leader.

So I stated that laws can be changed, and I suggested that it should be changed.

Got it – thank you for the explanation.

My pleasure.
“Execrable” and “Laughable” would also fit the sentence, but probably wouldn’t win yours truly many friends 🙂

October 19, 2009 2:46 pm at 2:46 pm #672785NY MomMemberDoes anyone know anything about Bill Thompson other than he’s comptroller and what Bloomberg is advertising about him?
I once heard Zev Brenner on the radio interviewing Thompson’s father. He seemed like a friend to the Jewish community, but that is the extent to which I know about Bill Thompson.

January 13, 2010 9:48 pm at 9:48 pm #672787hereorthereMemberBloomberg, demanded that Giuliani be term limited out, just so he could get in.
Now he wants no term limits.
He bought himself the election and no one could compete with his money.
In his race for his first term, he ran as a Republican and revealed his true liberal self after he had won, saying that he knew he couldn’t win the Democratic nomination
(or perhaps it would have cost him a couple billion dollars and he felt he could get away without spending that much) so he lied about being a Repubican (ok he did not use the word ‘lie’ about himself, but that is what it amounts to).
Then he claimed that he could not stop illegal immigration and the drugs and gang violence that comes with so many other illegal immigrants.
He said that was for the federal government to deal with, not a city mayor.
Then he hypocritically goes around on a never ending campaign to take away our 2nd Ammendment rights, and suddenly in this case he thinks it is not for just the Feds to deal with but he goes around to all the other mayors of other cities trying to get guns banned.
This mayor claims to be an indepenent but is just another extreme radical, leftist in disguise who through ending term limits and with his vast wealth, has apponted himself city dictator, for life.
