Hi all,
I was alerted to a sad story coming out of Toronto last week. A young girl,17,disappeared from in front of her High School at about 8:45 am without a trace. The police are helpless as to solving the case. Presumably the family is Jewish (albeit not observent). Why is it that Shalit has grabed the attention of the Frum populace and they are equally concerned for him but this girl has not? I am not asking for an answer. I am just very saddened by this story and would like the frum people at this time of closeness to the Ribbono Shel Oilam to appeal on her behalf.
Please, lets bring this family to everyones attention and daven for her safe return.

It is because awareness has not been raised. You are helping to do so now, though. But please don’t compare one story to the other ch”v – with G-d’s help, she won’t be missing for as long as Shalit.

If this changes, we will update it.
We hope she is found unharmed and returned to her parents safely – no matter what her religion.

I am very familiar with the Georgian Jewish communities and I can say from the names of family members, first and last, that I am 90% sure the girl is not Jewish. The mother’s last name is most definitely not one associated with Jews, and assimilation in Gruziya was not to the point that we can even suspect that her mother’s mother could be Jewish as is the case with immigrants from other regions of FSU.
What is more, the Chabad shaliach to the Russian Jewish community in Toronto has a very strong connection with Georgia, namely that his mother AH was Gruzini, and as a very respected askan he would be the first one involved if the girl were Jewish.
