So the first night of sukkos we ate in the sukkah, but then it rained at night.
This is like a servant who is bringing cups of water to the master all day, and then when it gets late, the master says “you’ve been serving me so well, you could use the night off, go get a good nights sleep”.
Interesting. I wish I had that view. We made it thru a drippy kiddush and that was it and it was my feeling that Hashem said, “you want to sit and complain about Yom Tov, you want to complain about the work and the cost? You want to kvetch about taking off time from work because Yom Tov is so long? If you don’t appreciate the mitzvah of sukkah then you will forgo the priviledge of the mitvzah of sukkah. Go eat inside”
PBA: Your Mashal is bad. Because then the Gemara would say that raining during the day is also good, because it means you get to eat inside. Unless you want to say that it means different things in CHU”L than in Israel, because our weather is generally not as Sukkah-friendly as it is there.
I don’t think anybody says that it is a good thing. But, you know, if you have to go in you might as well come up with something to make yourself feel good. Feeling good is a big priority these days.
