While the best students do well and Chinuch works great, for anyone average or CH’V less than average or at the bottom, they want nothing to do with them.
Anyone can make a good student into a Talmid Chacham. Good Chinuch turns a TERRIBLE student into a a Tzadik.
Rav Shlomo Freifeld went to Rav Hutner and asked for the 12 WORST learners in the yeshiva. And he made them into the leaders of today.
It’s obviously very much dependent on how and where you define the parameters of “chinuch.” There was a discussion about this on the banning Facebook thread a while back.
I don’t think there is a fair way to grade the current chinuch situation. All that I know, is that I’ve had many teachers and mechanchos throughout my “career” as a Bais Yaakov student.
I’ve known some mechanchos who were terrible role models and teachers.
Then again, there were many treasured lessons and inspiring teachers who helped mold who I am today.
Remember: No system is perfect, and there’s always room for correction.
There are those that instill a LOVE for Yiddishkeit, a burning love and fear of HaShem. Those are who count. These tools for life will live long after the scholastic data fades into oblivion.
These great teachers give over great personal ineraction tools, how to solve major and minor issues.. PRICELESS!!
