My car was parked in the BMG parking lot over bein Hazmanim, three ninth graders decided to steal it for a few minutes (while working for the Shamos company) and as I’ve heard from an eye witness drove at least 50 miles per hour and smashed my car into a curb, flattening the tire and ruining the rim (I don’t know if they broke the axle also!) They also made a foot long hole in the side panel.
After speaking to one of the Fathers, I have gotten no where!
1) Should I contact the police?
2) Should I contact the Menahel of the boys Yeshiva? What would you do????
April 26, 2018 1:17 pm at 1:17 pm #1511999eric55ParticipantIt pretty apparent you have very poor judgement ability 1. you left your car open with the keys inside 2. questioning whether to go to the police get your act together brother
April 26, 2018 1:17 pm at 1:17 pm #1511990Takes2-2tangoParticipantIf u got into an accident with a frum person would you go talk to the frum persons rav or rosh yeshiva?
Would u locate his high school rebbe who he was very close to?
Suppose you hit a goy , would you want him to locate your parents, inlaws, rabbeim rosh yeshivos?April 26, 2018 1:17 pm at 1:17 pm #1511986Common sense personParticipantfirst, why did you leave the keys in the car?
Tell the father that you are calling the police AND the principal. The boys will never learn their lesson. I would call the police.April 26, 2018 1:17 pm at 1:17 pm #1511981apushatayidParticipantThey hotwire your car?
April 26, 2018 1:17 pm at 1:17 pm #1511980apushatayidParticipantTake them to a din torah.
April 26, 2018 2:31 pm at 2:31 pm #1512081HealthParticipantapy -“Take them to a din torah”
I agree. Use the one on 4th & Madison, preferably.
April 26, 2018 4:38 pm at 4:38 pm #1512154icemelterParticipantIt would still be a chilul Hashem to involve police. You guys are wrong on this one, they WILL learn their lesson if their Rosh Yeshiva and parents know about it out of sheer embarrassment. They are only 9th graders and not so independent from their parents. This means they take it to heart when doing something foolish and having it pointed out by adults whom they respect. I dont see what cops would help aside for increasing hatred towards Yidden in the Lakewood area which really doesnt need any support.
April 26, 2018 4:38 pm at 4:38 pm #1512139🐵 ⌨ GamanitParticipantYou say three boys stole it. I assume only one was driving. While he had peer pressure from his two friends ultimately he is the one who crashed it. He’s the only one you should be going after.
April 26, 2018 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm #1512423apushatayidParticipantwhats on 4th and madison?
April 26, 2018 5:54 pm at 5:54 pm #1512426DovidBTParticipantHe’s the only one you should be going after.
Are not the other two boys liable under Vayikra 19:11?
April 26, 2018 7:08 pm at 7:08 pm #1512451VelvilParticipantAll three drove it but only one smashed it
April 26, 2018 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm #1512471lesschumrasParticipantyou can’t make an insurance claim without a police report. if the parents won’t fix the car correctly ( by having someone do a cheap repair with a bad paint job) then call the police. If the parents were truly enrich people, it should have been taken care of already
April 26, 2018 8:41 pm at 8:41 pm #1512473lesschumrasParticipantehrlich, not enrich
April 26, 2018 11:04 pm at 11:04 pm #1512507FuturePOTUSParticipantY’all actually believe this?
It’s so easy to troll. It’s so illogical to think that someone who got his car stolen would go to the YWN coffeeroom for advice. That’s where a guy goes for advice?
April 26, 2018 11:04 pm at 11:04 pm #1512506HealthParticipantApy -“whats on 4th and madison?”
A Bais Din!
April 26, 2018 11:26 pm at 11:26 pm #1512514👑RebYidd23ParticipantFuturePOTUS, since the YWN coffee room does not charge extra fees for advice, many do choose to ask here even as they seek help from other sources, because why not?
April 27, 2018 12:04 am at 12:04 am #1512519yitzchokmParticipantDavid,
There’s no penalty for lying.
April 27, 2018 11:28 am at 11:28 am #1512652apushatayidParticipant“A Bais Din!”
My knowledge of Lakewood is just about zero. For all I know, you were being facetious and were referring to a laundromat.
