At first just post an answer, just so we can see what everyone thinks then later we can discuss the reasons.
It’s really sad to see around the web how many people are getting it wrong.

You are saying the same equation in Algebra would be 14?
Can you work that out and demonstrate?

Using order of operations, you’d multiply the last 1 x 0 first, resulting in 0, so you’d have:
1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 – 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 0 = 14.
If, however, the equation was:
(1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 – 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) x 0 =
The result is 0, as you would perform the operations in parens FIRST and multiply that result by 0, giving you the result that Think First came up with but incorrectly in this instance.

Not really, they’re a convention so that anyone else looking at the equation can be clear what it means. Otherwise, what’s to say we can’t interpret the above as:
(1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) – (1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1*0) = 4
or
(1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) – (1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1)*0 = 10
or 0, as several people above said, etc…
Without a common set of rules and definitions, we can’t have symbolic math!

I certainly didn’t intend to bother you with an argument. Convenience (the term you used) indicates something that eases difficulty, but does not imply requirement. I contend that the order of operations are a requirement, not a convenience or “best practice.” To perform the calculation above “in sequence”, therefore in my view, is incorrect. That’s all I was trying to say. Sorry for nitpicking:-)

I didn’t mean that having a convention was merely a convenience, but that the particular conventions chosen were for convenience.
with a different set of rules, you would need far more symbols and annoying and confusing parentheses when writting formulas or equations.
these rules are convention, not a natural fact of numbers or arithmetic, as you yourself mention.

There 1+1 10 times that equals 10 then there’s -1 so ur at 9 there’s +1 another 6 of them so let’s see 9+6=15 but boom you want me to multiply that by zero so basicaly its 15×0 and anything times 0 always equals 0. And I’d bet on this.

If I use these symbols in a fortran program, the answer displays a 14.
If I warn an eight year old that this is a trick question – s/he will answer 14.
If I ask a grandparent the answer will probably be – Huh?
If the answer is needed for a d’var torah, the answer could be 13, 14, 15, 5 or zero.

1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1-1+1+1+1+1+1+1×0
1)multiply the 0 and the 1 at the end of the problem=0(but remember once we multiplied the 1 and the 0 we aren’t using them anymore so they are out of the picture!)
then u add the 1st 10 1s=10
Are you with me so far? Because 0+10=10!
then we have a -1 which everyone(I hope knows)10-1=9
Ok so now our present answer is 9. so now we are gonna add up the remaining 5 #’s to get 14.
Did you guys get it?
I hope it was clear!
