2)If someone makes a mezonos accidentally on a piece of bread that is vadai hamotzi, finishes the bread, and then realizes his mistake (and no more bread is available) does he then have to make a shehakol on a cup of water he wants to drink? I don’t know the answer, but if it’s “yes”, that would answer your question – he is yotzei with the bracha, not the food the bracha is made on.
