WATCH: Democrat Dov Hikind Tells Trump To “Move On” And “Support DeSantis”

Former NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind went on Fox News to blame Donald Trump for the recent election results, and called on the former President to “move on”, and that Trump should endorse DeSantis for President. “We were all disappointed looking at the bigger picture. What happened was supposed to be great victories all over the country,” Hikind told Fox News’ Steve Doocy. “I would say to the former president, who I supported and he did great things during his term, I would say to him, move on. A couple of days before the election, he tells the country he has a major announcement. Donald Trump, it was not about you. It was about the candidates that were running and you took away from them,” said Hikind. “There’s no question that he hurt candidates all over the country.” “Donald Trump, you had your opportunity. You hurt your party that you love, and your country in this election,” he said Hikind is a lifelong Democrat, who for more than 20 years endorsed liberals and Democrats in nearly every single election, and who voted with his fellow Democrats in Albany to pass countless liberal bills and laws. Hikind suddenly jumped ship to start endorsing Republicans when Trump ran for office in 2020. But Hikind had previously flip flopped on Trump. In 2016 Hikind was expected to endorse Trump when he changed his mind after the notorious tapes leaked where Trump bragged about assaulting women. See this from a Forward article in 2016: “When we said before I am going to represent the Republican side, I would’ve loved to — if I had a Republican. Donald Trump is not a Republican. He is running on the Republican line. I wanted to support him. I was hoping as the weeks went by that he would keep his mouth closed and stop saying the things that he has said, but he can’t change, and I am really concerned,” he continued, telling the audience that he would write in House Speaker Paul Ryan, whom he praised as a “mensch.” “He was a very difficult choice from the beginning,” he said, citing the Republican nominee’s mocking of a disabled New York Times reporter and his lewd statements about women. “His behavior is so offensive, so horrible, so degrading and every other adjective you can think of.” He also blasted Trump as lacking knowledge about the issues that matter. “Being ignorant is sort of a positive thing for him,” Hikind said. In 2020 Hikind then went on to give Trump a full throated endorsement. Time will tell what Hikind will do if Trump is a real candidate in 2024. (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

MAILBAG: An Open Letter and Warning to the Jewish Community and Dov Hikind

Dov Hikind said he’s going to vote for Inna Vernikov even though he’s registered to vote in Nassau County. Dov Hikind is no longer a Brooklyn resident. Dov Hikind sold his Brooklyn house, moved to Nassau County years ago, and registered to vote in Woodmere. Hasn’t there been enough criminal prosecution of frum guys already. Dov Hikind is in the Jewish Vues and the Flatbush Jewish Journal proudly standing next to Chaim Deutsch who’s reporting to Federal prison this Friday. Why must they flaunt the authorities after all the damage they did to our community. Dov Hikind must apologize for threatening to violate election law by voting in a district he’s never lived in. Government authorities pay attention to things like this and we can’t afford another Chillul Hashem in our community. For the sake of himself and the Jewish community, Dov Hikind must apologize immediately and explain this as a misunderstanding or whatever it is. We don’t need news headlines of another frum politician being sentenced to prison. In this week’s Jewish Vues Inna Vernikov says “the two most respected frum politicians in Flatbush are obviously Chaim Deutsch and Dov Hikind.” Inna Vernikov has no ties to the Flatbush community besides when she played a key role in the Yoni Hikind campaign so it’s no surprise she made an off the wall statement like that. We are fortunate to have Councilman Kalman Yeger, Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein and Senator Simcha Felder representing us in government. They’re not voting for her but that doesn’t mean she has to insult them and the community. Inna must immediately apologize as well, her comment is disgraceful and shows how out of touch she is. PUBLIC OUTCRY: Dov Hikind’s Public Disgrace Of Rabbonim — WHY ARE WE SILENT?! [MAILBAG]

By now voters in Flatbush are aware that there is a city council race for the 48th District between Steven Saperstein and Inna Vernikov. Saperstein, the winner of the Democratic primary, is a well-known individual, who ran previously as a moderate republican, has campaigned gracefully and respectfully, never attacking his opponent with negative mailers or ads. He’s been endorsed by respected communal organizations like the FJCC and Sephardic Federation and earned the support of the Police and Fire unions because his views and positions are really conservative. It’s important to note that Saperstein only ran as a Democrat so he could sit with the majority in the City Council and better deliver for his constituents. It will prove to be a smart decision, and a win for the entire district should he get elected. As for Inna, Flatbush residents have been bombarded on a near daily basis with her negative mailers attacking Mr. Saperstein as some sort of AOC left wing progressive. These attacks are false and ridiculous. After all, Saperstein previously ran twice as a Republican. But to some candidates the truth simply doesn’t matter, anything and everything is used to smear an opponent in order to win. Unfortunately nobody should be surprised. The last time our community was inundated with this kind of deplorable filth was the forgettable Yoni Hikind- Kalman Yeger City Council race, four years ago. The common thread between those two nasty campaigns? Dov Hikinds was involved then and he is now. Inna has entrusted Mr. Hikind to run her election. But it might as well be Hikind running now. Political observers see Hikind’s aggressive tactics and attacks on Saperstein as a way for him to regain political power through his surrogate, Inna. His personal attacks on Saperstein have escalated as the campaign heats up and voters are realizing just how absurd it would be to send a firebrand Republican to the Democratically dominated City Council to represent us. Saperstein to his credit has been turning the other cheek and I’ve been impressed by his focus and unwillingness to go negative. But the relentless negative ads against Saperstein continue in this week’s newspapers and mailers and when you see them, know who is responsible, none other than Dov Hikind. Voters should soundly reject this negativity on Election day. Mr. Hikind though has crossed a line recently and that’s why I’m writing this. Despite running one vulgar ad after another – Dov’s latest anti Saperstein video “demands” that community members call leading Rabbonim in Flatbush to confirm that Mr. Saperstein actually took pictures with them. As if the pictures Saperstein is using were photo-shopped from thin air. Hikind stoops even lower by sharing the Rabbonim’s private phone numbers on the video, with subtitles urging people to call them. Really Dov? People should call and harass Harav Hagoan R’ Yisroel Reisman Shlita to inquire if he’s lying? Frankly speaking we’ve rarely seen this kind of reckless chutpzah before and this is my protest for Kovod Hatorah. But this is hardly the first time Dov has used Rabbonim and Gedolim for his own political agenda. In another brazen Chutzpah, it has been confirmed that on a random day a few weeks ago, the bell rang at the home of a revered Rosh Yeshiva and Gadol. Waiting at the

SEE IT: Facebook Censors Dov Hikind Video Exposing Rep. Tlaib’s Outrageous Claim About Palestinians and the Holocaust

After Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s remarks on how she felt “comforted” about her Palestinian ancestors’ role during and after the Holocaust set off a firestorm (as expected), Dov Hikind put out a video to correct her distortions. Without warning prior, or notice thereafter, Hikind woke up today to discover that Facebook had removed the video (see it on Twitter). Antisemites like @rashidatlaib have a long track record of distorting Jewish history just as the Nazis did – but only Rashida lies, gets called out, and then blames her critics for her lies! I’m glad we all saw right through her, but she’s still in Congress! pic.twitter.com/68HosSyrxo — Dov Hikind (@HikindDov) May 13, 2019 It’s outrageous to think that for a video that did nothing but directly quote Rashida Tlaib along with the famous video of Hitler Y”MS meeting with the Palestinian Mufti as they discussed their ‘shared problem of the Jews’, Facebook censored Hikind and shut down his right to free speech. It comes as no surprise, as we’ve recently seen Facebook and other social media sights de-platform voices that don’t jive with their far-Left outlook and agenda. But this should be unacceptable, particularly as there was no mention of it. It simply disappeared. The interesting thing is that other accounts re-posted Hikind’s video and the video was not (yet) removed. Below, see screenshots of a Whatsapp message showing that the post was live on Facebook with a live link, and preview of the video at the original link, which has now been removed.

Jewish Democrat Dov Hikind Calls Bernie Sanders “A Danger To Jews And Democrats” Who Wants Terrorists To Vote From Prison

As presidential campaign season gets into higher gear, candidates are starting to pile up the gaffes, or rather, expose the true nature of their proposals. Bernie Sanders, a Jewish candidate for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020 is the latest to show his cards. “First, after Israel reelected the formidable Benjamin Netanyahu, instead of accepting the will of the Israeli people all Bernie could do was lament the win by calling the new government “racist,” signaling his unwillingness to work with Netanyahu should he ever become president,” said former New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind. “Then, as if that weren’t ridiculous enough, in a town hall, Sanders promoted the idea that murderers and terrorists like the Tsarnaev brothers who bombed the Boston Marathon, killing four and injuring scores more, should be able to vote from prison! If that isn’t absurd then it shows you how far Left the Democrats have gone. Either way it should concern every American and Jew that there’s a candidate seeking votes among those who’ve taken innocent lives. As long as the Democrats are silent on the antisemitism of Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib while calling Israel “racist” and getting cozy with murderers, Jewish Democrats have no choice but to take a vacation from the party in 2020.” (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

Alibaba Responds Swiftly To Dov Hikind’s Request To Remove Offensive Nazi Swastika-Symbols From Website

It all began when Dov Hikind’s granddaughter, a 16-year old high school student, was perusing AliExpress.com for products of interest and came across an entire section of swastika-themed symbols. As the great-granddaughter of Holocaust survivors who saw the number-tattooed arm of her great-grandmother OBM, she was shocked and mortified. Equally horrified was Dov who sprung into action by dispatching a letter to AliExpress and their China-based parent company AliBaba Group (one of the largest corporations in the world) requesting the immediate removal of all swastika-themed products. “The message to them was simple,” said Hikind, who is chairman of the Coalition for a Positive America. “While the swastika originated in southeast Asia, everyone knows that symbols can be appropriated and acquire new meaning. In short, they were notified that individual sellers were profiting off of a Nazi symbol that was emblematic of the Holocaust and genocide.” Barely a day later, Brion Tingler from AliBaba’s External Affairs department, responded saying “Thank you for bringing these concerns to us. We value such communication from our stakeholders. As you would probably have guessed, merchandise with Nazi symbols violates our listing policies and will be removed once identified.” There are many lessons here according to Hikind: “First, when we see an injustice we’re required to speak up regardless of any expectation of results. Second, this is what responsible and moral business-dealing looks like. Such swift and unequivocal action without seeking excuses is not only praiseworthy of AliBaba, but should serve as a behavioral model for other multinational companies that are ordinarily too profitable to feel obliged to deal with what can seem insignificant to its bottom line.” Ultimately, acting morally is always best for a company’s bottom line, and AliBaba demonstrated that in spades. All those who are offended at the sight of symbols of hatred can rejoice in gratitude knowing there are at least some companies that are unwilling to profit off of hate. Dov Hikind Thanks President Trump For Shout Out During Rosh Hashonah Call With Jewish Leaders

NY State Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brookyn) thanked President Donald Trump this afternoon for the kind recognition that the President personally gave him during the White House’s annual Rosh Hashonah call. “President has been a genuine friend to the Jewish people and to the State of Israel,” said Hikind. “As promised, he recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel; he abolished the terribly dangerous Iran Deal, which threatened not only Israel and the rest of the Middle East, but American interests and world peace. And more recently, he took the steps necessary to remove the last known Nazi war criminal living in the United States. “I am truly grateful to our President for these things, as the Jewish people should all be, and I’m honored that the President recognized me today on his call for the work I’ve done with regard to deporting this Nazi. “My office was filled this afternoon with Holocaust survivors who the President thanked for being on the call. You can only imagine how important this call was to them. After everything they’ve been through, they can go into this coming Jewish New Year knowing that not only is their country now free of Nazis, but it was the work of President Trump—a President who cared enough to tell them how honored he was to be on the phone with them. This was a phone call that they will tell their grandchildren and great grandchildren about over the holidays—a call they deserved and will never forget. President Trump just made a real difference in their lives.” (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

Trump Thanks Assemblyman Dov Hikind For “Gracious Remarks” About Sending Nazi Back To Germany [VIDEOS]

President Trump tweeted a thank you to NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind on Wednesday morning. His tweet read “Thank you to Democrat Assemblyman Dov Hikind of New York for your very gracious remarks on @foxandfriends for our deporting a longtime resident Nazi back to Germany! Others worked on this for decades.” As YWN reported on Tuesday, 95-year-old former Nazi camp guard, Jakiw Palij, the last Nazi war crimes suspect facing deportation from the U.S. was taken from his New York City home and spirited early Tuesday morning to Germany, following years of efforts to remove him from the United States. Palij lived quietly in the U.S. for years, as a draftsman and then as a retiree, until nearly three decades ago when investigators found his name on an old Nazi roster and a fellow former guard spilled the secret that he was “living somewhere in America.” Thank you to Democrat Assemblyman Dov Hikind of New York for your very gracious remarks on @foxandfriends for our deporting a longtime resident Nazi back to Germany! Others worked on this for decades. — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 22, 2018 Hikind held protests outside the Nazi’s home for years, keeping the issue alive and lobbying elected officials to push for his deportation. This last year, Hikind called on President Trump and U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions to take Palij into custody as an illegal alien deport him. Hikind organized nearly 100 of his colleagues in the NYS Assembly and Senate to lend their voices to the plea to remove Palij. This morning, Hikind went on Fox & Friends to thank President Trump for his actions. .@HikindDov: “When the president does something huge, like getting rid of the last Nazi from Queens, New York, say ‘thank you Mr. President.’” pic.twitter.com/NvbLD3um1l — Fox News (@FoxNews) August 22, 2018 .@HikindDov: “It’s almost like fellow Democrats don’t want the president to do well.” pic.twitter.com/4OxWlf8vii — Fox News (@FoxNews) August 22, 2018 My appearance on @foxandfriends this morning. That is a vital message in this story of long-overdue justice,” said Hikind on Tuesday in a statement. “I have remained with this issue for 14 years because Palij’s presence here mocked the memory of the millions who perished. There was no question of his guilt. It was imperative that someone responsible for Nazi atrocities be held accountable for his crimes. While his victims can no longer seek justice, I am delighted that President Trump and his administration took it upon themselves to deliver justice.” Earlier this year, Hikind recently released an emotional video about Palij, encouraging U.S. citizens to call the White House and demand justice. Hikind also praised Eli Rosenbaum, Director of HRSP (Human Rights and Special Prosecutions) of the Department of Justice; Rambam Mesivta led by Rabbi Zev Meir Friedman for their constant efforts to bring attention of Palij’s crimes; and his numerous colleagues in the New York State Assembly and Senate. Palij told Justice Department investigators who showed up at his door in 1993: “I would never have received my visa if I told the truth.

WATCH: Dov Hikind Gets Standing Ovation On Last Day In Office

NY State Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) was the recipient of a warm standing ovation from his colleagues as Majority Leader Joseph D. Morelle recognized Hikind for his 36 years in the legislature. It was a bittersweet moment for Hikind and his family who were on hand as the popular Assemblyman said goodbye to Albany… but not to public service. “In many ways, I’m just getting started,” said Hikind. “Long before I became an elected official, I was serving my community as an activist. Now, there’s even more that I can offer. “I want to thank my community and thank G-d for giving me these amazing 36 years of being able to help people—help my community and help individuals. But anyone who thinks that I am ‘retiring’ doesn’t know me. I will never cease speaking out on issues that are important to us, and I will never stop working to make a difference in people’s lives. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished and equally excited about the days to come, because there’s so much more that still needs to be done.” A heart-warming video of Dov Hikind’s last day can be seen below:

Democrat Dov Hikind Blasts His Own Party For Treatment Of Israel

NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) says that Democrats like Senators Bernie Sanders and Dianne Feinstein, who denounce the State of Israel for defending itself, are encouraging more violence. Never one to stand silent when Jews are under attack, Hikind is blasting his own party for what he calls “a disgusting blood libel against the Jewish people.” “They are handing a victory to Hamas,” Hikind said of Democrats who have shamefully criticized Israel for defending its borders. “Where is the conscience of the Democratic Party? We know for a fact that over 50 of the 60 Palestinians who were killed at the Gaza-Israeli border were members of Hamas—an organization that the United States recognizes as terrorists. These were not student protestors. These were not people looking to cross over from Mexico to find a better life in the United States. These were terrorists who have sworn to murder Israeli citizens when they reach Israel. But media outlets like MSNBC and CNN, along with Democrats who are playing politics, have twisted the story. Is there zero regard for the truth?” (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

Statement Of Agudath Israel Of America On The Retirement Of Assemblyman Dov Hikind

Agudath Israel of America salutes Assemblyman Dov Hikind who announced his impending retirement from the New York State Assembly after a long distinguished career of service to the community. For 36 years, Dov has been a fierce advocate in government for individuals, his community, and all of Klal Yisroel. His heart overflows with love for the Jewish people, and his level of passion for important causes, including causes that might be unpopular but are just, is unparalleled. We have been proud to work with him on many important legislative accomplishments over the years. Though he may be formally retiring from government, we know that Dov Hikind will never retire from serving the community in whatever capacity he is able. (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

Statement by Councilman Kalman Yeger On Assemblyman Dov Hikind’s Retirement

The following is a statement from New York City Councilman Kalman Yeger (D-Brooklyn) after New York State Senator Dov Hikind announced he will not seek re-election after 36 years in office: “I have known Dov Hikind for nearly my entire life. His public service is legendary. He has always been at the forefront in defending the Jewish people, never afraid to stand alone when necessary, to say what must be said. “If I had to point to a single period in my youth that propelled me to wanting to serve the public, it was the government failure during the 1991 Crown Heights Pogrom and how Dov addressed that failure. Without question, Dov is singlehandedly responsible for shining a bright light on government acquiescence to a 3-day long attack on the Jewish people. When far too many were embarrassingly silent, Dov stood tall in defense of our community. “Two years ago this month, I stood with Dov and watched as he confronted a presidential candidate for vile comments made about Israel. This was emblematic of Dov – his passionate defense of our people, never being afraid to speak up. “In his time as an assemblyman and member of the Democratic State Committee, he elevated our community’s place at the table. As it has long been said, ‘If you’re not at the table, you’re probably on the menu.’ Dov always fought to keep us at the table and off the menu. “While we may not have always agreed, I like to believe that we agreed far more than we didn’t. I honor his service to our community and the State of New York, and I wish him joy and success in everything he does.” (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

VIDEO: NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind Announces He Will Not Seek Re-Election After 36 Years In Office

New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) announced this morning that he will not be seeking another term of office. The announcement was part of a short video that looks back on Hikind’s unparalleled four decades of community service and ceaseless activism, including his 36 years in the New York State Assembly. Born June 30, 1950, Hikind grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where his father was a devout follower of the Vizhnitz Hasidic dynasty. As a follower of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane, Hikind spent the late 1960s and 1970s actively fighting against anti-Semitism, working to free Soviet Jews and Syrian Jews, and fighting to help Jewish poor. These early years of intense activism were mirrored throughout his storied career as an elected official. Hikind never limited his ‘job’ to local issues and the typical role of a legislator. He felt responsible for helping every Jew, no matter where they could be found. Hikind was first elected to represent Brooklyn’s 48th Assembly District in 1983 and has remained a popular champion for his constituents. He is highly regarded not only in New York but also throughout the world for his relentless fight against racism, discrimination, Holocaust denial, and human rights violations. “Whether it’s in Brooklyn, Albany, Monsey, Lakewood, Europe or even Gush Katif in Israel, Dov Hikind is always found fighting on the front lines, raising his voice whenever there is injustice, or leading the charge when change is needed,” noted Hikind’s biographer. For decades, Hikind’s office has been a reflection of Dov’s deep commitment to helping others and his own limitless energy. People throughout his district—and indeed, throughout New York—speak of Hikind’s unparalleled constituent services. “It doesn’t matter how small you think a problem is,” he always told his staff. “When someone has a problem, that problem is HUGE to them. We can’t solve every problem, but we always have to try.” He embodies the Hebrew expression Lifnei meshuras ha’din (making sure to always go the extra mile). This has been his mantra since first taking office. This sincere caring for neighbors and his community has resulted in an endless parade of people seeking assistance from the Assemblyman. “If someone has a problem, I say, ‘Go to Dov.’ These are words spoken regularly throughout Brooklyn by young and old alike. And it wasn’t just about everyday problems. Dov Hikind has never shied away from controversial issues. He was the first elected official in his community to highlight the problem of kids at risk and enlisted the help of former NY Governor George Pataki in convening a task force for the state and local community groups to work in tandem to tackle this issue. Hikind was also the first elected official in his community to speak out about sexual abuse and to fight to protect victims and prevent further incidents. More recently, Hikind initiated a campaign to ensure that no child is ever again excluded from a yeshiva education. “Dov throws himself into solving problems because he genuinely feels other people’s pain,” said his biographer. “People come to him because they are suffering and Dov suffers with them. He makes it his business to get to the bottom of issues; to find solutions for the many and for the individual. This is what he lives for.” This commitment to making

Assemblyman Dov Hikind Says 500 Children Could Not Find Schools This Year

As we prepare to celebrate Pesach and commemorate the Jewish people’s exodus from Egypt, there are unfortunately families in our community who remain enslaved to a broken educational system. Six months into this current school year, we have as many as 500 children who could not find schools. This is unacceptable. I am committing myself to seeking a real solution to this problem so that this upcoming school year, there is not a single child who has been denied a seat in a yeshiva. If YOUR child has not been placed in a school, or if you suffered from seeing your child unplaced until recently, please contact my office. You can remain anonymous. Men should contact Dov Cohen and women may speak with Sharon Fuchs. Contact us via phone, email or mail. Together, as a community, and with G-d’s help, we can create an educational system where no child is ever again left behind. Wishing everyone a chag kasher v’someach. Assemblyman Dov Hikind Secures $1 Million State Grant To Hatzolah For Communications System

Thanks to the efforts of NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn), Hatzoloh will now be able to rescue more people than ever. Hikind has allocated $1 million in State funding to New York’s Hatzoloh – the largest volunteer ambulance service in the United States. The State grant will be used to bring Hatzoloh desperately needed upgrades to its communications system, which is vital to dispatching ambulances and saving lives. Currently, the volunteer organization’s primary operating territory encompasses all five Boroughs of New York, Nassau County, Sullivan County, and parts of Ulster County, while paramedic services are also licensed in Rockland and Orange Counties. Hatzoloh’s current radio system consists of 23 radio towers but dispatching depends on point-to-point communications. This system does not allow Hatzoloh to activate more than one tower at a time. Use of single towers is not always effective in dense areas and the organization has heard complaints of “my radio did not receive the call.” The $1 million from New York State that Hikind has allocated will bring Hatzoloh a new state-of-the-art communications system that eliminates communications “dead spots” and allows for swifter ambulance and volunteer dispatching. In short, the money will be used to save more lives. “I don’t think I’ve ever been prouder to help any single organization than I am today helping Hatzoloh,” said Assemblyman Hikind. “I have always had the greatest respect for our wonderful Hatzoloh volunteers, as I think everyone in our community does. Who doesn’t have Hatzoloh’s number next to their phone? Who doesn’t know someone who was rescued from a sudden injury or illness by these selfless volunteers? Hatzoloh saves countless lives every single day, 24/7, and I am thrilled and relieved that this money will allow them to do even swifter work and help more people. “We are here to make a difference and Hatzoloh makes a difference every day,” said Hikind. “G-d bless this outstanding organization and their extraordinary volunteers.” (YWN Desk – NYC)

WATCH: Dov Hikind Unloads At FJCC Event; Says Kalman Yeger Is Most Experienced To Be Councilman

(VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE) Assemblyman Dov Hikind today threatened to release secret video and audio recordings of unspecified threats that he says Jewish leaders have made against each other in the Community. It’s not clear what Assemblyman Hikind is referring to but certainly seemed like mesirah from Hikind’s remarks. However, this video was taken at the FJCC breakfast only hours after Yoni Hikind leashed a blistering attack on Kalman’s family including his son who is in a local yeshiva. Hikind admits later in the video that if experience is the most important qualification, he would vote for Kalman Yeger over his son Yoni. Hikind went on to say that while Yoni may not be Heimish, neither was he and he expected to get re-elected next year. In the words of one person who attended the meeting’ “Dov’s speech was the most awkward 7 minutes in history. All the politicians were looking around shocked”. Watch the full clip below! The Dov Hikind Show Is Back

New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brookyn) is returning to the airwaves after nearly three years. The popular “Dov Hikind Show”—one of the most popular Jewish radio programs for two decades—will maintain its winning formula, never shying away from any topics. “I left the air because needed a break,” said Dov. “I was tired of giving up every single Saturday evening. It’s more than just an hour show—you have to really prepare… But I’ve rested long enough,” he says with a chuckle. The DOV HIKIND Show is a reflection of the charismatic elected official’s personality. “We’ll be talking about the things that matter, regardless of whether it’s in my own neighborhood or on the other side of the world,” Dov promises. “If something impacts our community, I’m on it.” The DOV HIKIND Show is now on every Tuesday night at 7pm on 620AM. Starting October 14, the show will also return Saturday nights at 11pm on 570AM. That’s two all-original shows each week! (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)

Op-Ed By Dov Hikind: It Was Never About Metal Detectors

It’s not about metal detectors. And how ridiculous that I should even have to say that. A child watching Sesame Street knows when things are upside down. Children learn the basics of gravity and even proxemics at a fairly young age. They understand that there’s a certain amount of space that one must place between themselves and, say, a fire… or a dog that’s baring its teeth. Sadly, most Israelis have these basics internalized as well, but they have been forced to live in a reality where many things are upside down. Case in point: The situation now facing Israel, its citizens, and the many people who visit there is so far removed from the recent installation of metal detectors at the entrance to the Temple Mount that it’s absurd to even suggest that this recent cause célèbre has any impact on what’s occurring in the Middle East. The metal detectors are merely the latest excuse. The Salomon family members were not butchered because of metal detectors. There were no metal detectors when the Fogel family was murdered in their beds in Itamar. There were no metal detectors when Hallel Yaffa, an innocent 13-year-old girl, was slaughtered in her bed in Kiryat Arba. The presence of metal detectors at the Temple Mount is just another excuse to shed blood. Why? Because Israel’s enemies live in a chasm of fake news and false motives. Metal detectors weren’t suddenly installed to insult anyone. They were installed because two Israeli policemen were murdered, shot in the back by assassins who ascended the Temple Mount ostensibly to pray. And then turned and fired. These metal detectors were recently installed to protect people—all people. So how does Mahmoud Abbas react? How does King Abdullah of Jordan react? Publicly, their reactions imply to their people—and to the rest of the world—that Israel, “the Zionist enemy,” has perpetrated the unthinkable upon the Muslim people. These Arab leaders have abandoned the avenue of civil discussions and diplomatic relations and instead opted to incite “days of rage.” Rage. That is the edict from the so-called moderate leaders of the Arab world. These are the men who say they want peace for their people, peace for the region. Hamas and their ilk, the overt terror organizations, make no secret of their means nor the ends they seek. By contrast, Abbas and the Jordanian King are more polished and, consequently, somewhat more dangerous. Why? Because they hold out the promise of peace; they proffer the gift of life without terror, which all Israelis and civilized peoples hope and pray for. For the small price of trust, they say, “we promise to bestow the precious gift of peace upon a generation weary of terror and war.” Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes. Beware of friends bearing gifts. Because with friends like these… [Dov Hikind is a NY State Assemblyman, a Democrat from Brooklyn]

Op-Ed By NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind: A Penny A Jew

Unfortunately, if we set aside a day for every tragedy in Jewish history, the calendar would be full. But the scope, circumstances and impact of the Holocaust are so immense that a special day of remembrance was deemed appropriate. I never discussed the day itself with my parents—both survivors, both in Heaven now—but I suspect they would have agreed. My mother, z”tl, warned against getting comfortable with the memory. As a child of survivors, and as a student of history, I have sought to understand as much as I can about what occurred during those tragic years. It’s not a morbid fascination; it’s a thirst for knowledge that might somehow be useful in dealing with today’s issues that endanger the Jewish people… and help prevent future tragedies. No one can deny that a generation has not passed where many people—not just an isolated madman—have expressed their eagerness to finish what Hitler started. Did my mother have these fears as a child in pre-war Czechoslovakia? I doubt it. Her memories of life before Germany invaded were happy ones; the Jewish community got along fine with their Czech neighbors, she recalled. Then the Nazis came and the town’s Jews were rounded up. My mother’s most vivid memory of that day was how the non-Jewish neighbors came out to watch. And no one said a word. “Do you know about anti-Semitism?” I asked my 14-year-old granddaughter. She was sitting with me as I prepared to speak on the subject over the holidays. “Yes,” she said. “We saw a video about it.” The video presented other young teens being asked about their perceptions of Jews. “They’re all rich,” said one. “They have all the power,” said another. Nearly a century later and nothing has changed. Except for one thing: Now, there is a State of Israel. So the chants of “Jews, go back to Palestine,” have ended, and the existence of a Jewish State has joined the list of “reasons” to call for Jewish extermination. I repeat: it’s not morbid fascination. It’s a matter of paying attention. A single day does not pass without an incident or a threat. If you follow international headlines, this is not news to you. There are a half million Jews in France who no longer feel safe looking like Jews. In France. While in the Middle East there are Muslim leaders who have openly stated their desire to see all Jews return to Israel as soon as possible, so they can kill them all at once. You would think that Muslim leaders in the Middle East would be most concerned with their people’s quality of life, but killing Jews is a higher priority. Despite all my years of reading, I never understood how the Germans could concentrate their efforts on anything but saving their own soldiers once the Allied invasion proved that their march to world domination had come to an end. But killing Jews was such a high priority to the Nazis that they studied its efficacy like a science. In The Holocaust, a new 500-page study by Laurence Rees, we learn how the Nazis were able to reduce the cost of murdering Jews to about two German pfennings a person. Less than one U.S. cent. Another new historical study by Peter Hayes entitled Why demonstrates how

Hundreds Of Familys Attend Misameach Annaul Cruise With Dov Hikind, Ohad ,Yehuda Green

Hundreds of sick children and their families set sail from Liberty Park Marina on Misameach’s annual cruise. Many special guests joined, including New York Assemblyman Dov Hikind. Families enjoyed the view out on the decks, taking in the sights of the Statue of Liberty, South Street Seaport and more. Inside the ship, the Ruach never abated, thanks to the musical talents of the legendary Ohad, Yehuda Green, Shloimy Taussig and Baruch Shalom, accompanied by Moshe Zuckerman, sound engineer, and the most leibidig volunteers known to mankind. Cousin Nochum performed a hilarious clown show that had all of the children involved. While the ground level was turned into a concert hall, the second floor was home to a child’s wonderland. Aside for the food, a whole host of games and activities entertained the children for the duration of the cruise. Crafts, face painting, cotton candy and more were supervised by dedicated volunteers who naturally and gracefully made every child feel special, while every family took home a gift bag loaded with toys and games for children of all ages, stages and genders. Misameach gives special thanks to the sponsors who made this trip a reality, including Volvie Brown, Mr. Rosenberg of Crown Plaza Stamford, Dr. Gliksberg, Pizzaleh, Powerlutions, Seasons, Zahlers, Miz Construction, Meridian Capital, Kedem and Ideal Insurance. for more info please visit www.misameach.org or email [email protected]

Dov Hikind On Passing Of Rabbi Ronnie Greenwald: Klal Yisroel Has Lost A Giant

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) released a statement on Wednesday after learning of Rabbi Ronnie Greenwald’s passing. “I am crying today; Klal Yisroel has lost a giant,” Assemblyman Hikind said. “Rabbi Ronnie Greenwald was one of the most special individuals that Hashem put onto this world. He loved all Jews totally, and was nonjudgmental. He was a huge talmud chacham.” One of Rabbi Greenwald’s most prominent accomplishments was founding and directing Camp Sternberg, a summer camp for frum girls in the Catskill Mountains. More than 50,000 girls in the fourth to sixth grades have attended the camp since its opening in 1965. In addition, Rabbi Greenwald also served as presidential liaison of former President Richard Nixon to the Jewish community. Hikind added, “We have lost a shining light. I lost a dear and beloved friend. I will sorely miss this exemplary mensch.” Seen in the photo is Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) together with Rabbi Ronnie Greenwald at Tiferet Yerushalim Yeshiva on a recent visit to Israel. Below is the video from that recent trip – as was reported by YWN.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind Shocked with Report on East Ramapo School District Proposals

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) expressed his shock over the report and recommendations issued by the state-appointed monitors for the East Ramapo School District. “We had real hopes that Dennis Walcott would be fair. Everything looked and smelled right, but he really let us down,” Hikind said. “This report is an insult to the community and schools within the East Ramapo School District.” “I and many others welcomed the appointment of Dennis Walcott in August. He was brought in to bridge the gap between the communities. Instead he utterly disappointed us. We had hoped that with his involvement, the animosity surrounding the East Ramapo issue would dissipate. Indeed, the monitors have worked closely with the board, staff, parents, and the community, and things have vastly improved over the past few months. Yet now we find ourselves in a worse position. After reading this report, it is clear to me that the unjustified vilification of the school board has been reinforced. This is not the Dennis I know—someone who is fair, open-minded, and not afraid.” Hikind added, “Everyone acknowledges that there are serious problems in the district. Walcott was brought in because of his experience and to provide serious recommendations. Not only did this not happen, but this report will only add to the mistrust and animosity in the community. We expected better, we expected more. Dennis, you could have been the superstar.” The report, titled, “Opportunity Deferred: A Report on the East Ramapo Central School District” was authored by Dennis M. Walcott, the former Chancellor of New York City schools, Dr. Monica George-Fields, and Dr. John W. Sipple, who were appointed to a three-member panel by the Board of Regents. The report recommends 19 proposals such as pursuing legislative action that would give the monitors increased authority, including veto power over the elected school board. “The idea of giving a state monitor the authority to usurp an elected school board, voted by the people, sets a terrible precedent,” said Hikind. “If you allow an appointed monitor to veto decisions of the duly elected East Ramapo School District, then other appointed monitors can do the same in other districts. Where will it end?” Hikind has been actively involved in speaking out about the East Ramapo School District issue and keeping in contact with East Ramapo School Board President Yehuda Weissmandl and members of the Jewish community. “All along, the underlying issue has been the community’s lack of sufficient funding for its public schools. Instead of addressing those real concerns, certain people have unfairly targeted the religious Jewish community, castigating this into a racial issue,” Hikind said. (YWN Desk – NYC)

Assemblyman Dov Hikind Urges Board of Elections to Translate Voter Registration Materials into Yiddish

Wide consensus exists that voter registration is an important issue, especially in light of the upcoming 2016 presidential elections. Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) was therefore surprised to receive voter registration forms mailed to his office in various languages, except one—Yiddish. Yiddish is the primary language spoken by thousands of his constituents. Hikind is therefore urging the NYC Board of Elections (BOE) to translate voting materials, especially voter registration forms, into Yiddish. “There are voter registrations forms in Bengali, why not Yiddish? Everyone talks about how important it is to register to vote. There are thousands of Yiddish-speakers in my district and New York State,” said Hikind. In a letter to NYC Board of Elections President Michael Michel, Hikind wrote, “Making voter registration forms available in Yiddish will encourage native speakers of the language to register to vote by making the process more comfortable, inviting, and user-friendly.” In his letter, Hikind added, “I invite you to take a look at any newsstand near my office, where you will see dozens of Yiddish language newspapers, magazines, and other publications, attesting to the vibrancy and every day usage of the language. As another Election Day draws closer, ballots and other materials generated by the Board of Elections, as well as information on the website, will continue to be displayed only in Bengali,Chinese, Korean, and Spanish. The voter registration handbook was even translated into Russian. But there are no Yiddish voting materials. This is a shanda—a disgrace—and totally unacceptable.” “We need to expand voter registration opportunities to the thousands of Kings County residents whose primary language is Yiddish, especially in communities in my district such as Borough Park and Midwood, as well as Crown Heights, Kensington, and Williamsburg,” Hikind concluded. PHOTO: Jerry Nadler Says He’s Hurt By Criticism On His Iran Position, So Dov Hikind Sent Him This Card

In light of Congressman Nadler’s reaction to being stunned and hurt by criticism of his support for the Iran deal, Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-NY), whose district overlaps with Nadler, has sent him a card and stuffed teddy bear to express his sympathies. In a Facebook post, Hikind wrote: “Congressman Nadler has taken a position on the Iran deal, one to which most of our community is opposed, and is now surprised that people are angry? Nadler tells reporters that it bothers him that people have said, ‘You betrayed us’ and that, ‘of course it hurts. It’s emotional.’” “Jerry, you’re hurting? We’re hurting because of what you did. And now you whine to the ADL, who releases a statement condemning vicious Internet commentators. People have been writing nasty things about me since I was first elected. When you take a position of such consequence, stand by your position. Stop whining, Jerry.” “I in no way condone anti-Semitic or racist comments on social media. But our community has the right to express outrage over the decisions of our elected representatives. The President set the tone for this hateful rhetoric with nefarious characterizations coming from the administration and various surrogates that depict opposition to the agreement in overt anti-Semitic tones. When the President says that those opposing the deal are ‘lobbyists’ that are ‘backed by tens of millions of dollars in advertising’ and the same people who argued for the war in Iraq, there can be no mistaking what this means.” “I remain hopeful that Congressman Nadler will change his mind.” (YWN Desk – NYC)

VIDEO AND PHOTOS: Assemblyman Dov Hikind Getting Arrested While Protesting The Iran Deal In Front Of Senator Schumer’s Office

[VIDEO & PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE] Today, along with 8 others, Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) was arrested by the New York Police Department in an act of civil disobedience calling on Senator Charles Schumer (D-New York) to publicly oppose the Iran deal and to commit to leading the fight to stop it in Congress. Hikind was arrested as the group protested and chanted in front of Senator Schumer’s office, calling on him to “Chuck the deal.” “We have been called on to act and now is not the time to remain silent,” remarked Hikind. (photos attached) Hikind continued: “We’re pleading with Senator Schumer to step up and lead this fight. Schumer’s voice is critical, with other senators looking towards him to take a stance. I see millions of people in Iran chanting ‘Death to America, Death to Israel’ and we’re negotiating with this regime? It’s insane.” “We’ve listened to Senator Schumer for years and how he takes every opportunity to explain the origin of his name Schumer and what it means for him to be a proud ‘Shomer’—which in Hebrew means protector. From your time as Congressman to one of the most powerful members of the Senate, Senator Schumer, you have repeatedly called yourself our ‘shomer’ (protector). Now is the time to live up to your claim and put your words into action. We need you to demonstrate leadership on one of the most critical foreign policy issues of our time. Be our protector and stop this terrible deal.” “Senator Schumer says he will ‘do the right thing.’ These are unprecedented times and it’s time to stop this deal, which is disastrous for America and our allies in the Middle East. This will define your legacy. I am sure you will not allow partisan politics or any other considerations to cloud your judgment.”
