More On The Dibuk From Brazil

R’ Daniel Eidensohn in his ‘Daas Torah’ blog quotes Rav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita as saying there was no dibuk, but “mental illness”, adding he was urged by the Rav to write and article and publicize his words. It appears that despite the involvement of prominent Torah personalities, who met with the avreich reportedly infected with a dibuk, Rav Moshe Sternbuch, Av Beis Din of the Eida Chareidis remains firm in his position, that the avreich is mentally ill and even though noted Mekubal HaRav David Batzri is involved, this is not a case of a dibuk. In addition, R’ Eidensohn in his report, quoting HaRav Sternbuch, that despite reports on various websites that he did, Rav Shternbach never issued a p’sak niddui against the dibuk to prevent any harm to Rav Batzri during the attempt to lure the dibuk out of the avreich. Rav Sternbuch is also quoted as expressing surprise and dismay over the fact that thousands believe the reports of the man infected with a dibuk. (Yechiel Spira – YWN Israel)

The ‘Dibuk’ & The Brazilian Jewish Community

The Brazilian Jewish community is busy concerning itself with the dibuk according to a Kikar.net report. The bizarre report adds that HaRav Dovid Batzri, a known Mekubal, tried to remove the dibuk via Skype, without success, and now, the ‘infected’ avreich it is on its way to Israel. The mysterious voice penetrated the Brazilian shul, “I smell many aveiros” and “the end is very near”, prompting mispalalim to look around for the source of the worrisome statements, but there was none to be found. When the voice was heard again, this time in Yiddish, shouting “Get out sinners!” it was recognizable, an avreich from the community. To the astonishment of the mispalalim, his lips were not moving, and those who know him insist he only knows the local language, not Yiddish, Hebrew or any of the other language that was heard emanating from his body. The gabbai approached him, hoping to halt the shouts, but he was greeted with Hebrew messages, “you look like you are in pain. It appears that you are worshiping avoda zara. I am truly happy to see you”. The avreich’s abdomen exhibited movement, but not his lips. In the meantime, the ezras nashim emptied as the frightened women fled. The avreich was taken home. He has become the hot topic of conversation in the kehillah. When questioned, the avreich explains he simply does not remember any of the event described to him by members of the community. His wife however heard him shouting in his sleep, this time in German, but she did not understand what he was saying. The question asked is that even if we assume he lost his mind, how did he learn the other languages? It’s A Real Dibuk Days have passed but the community is not calming down. The avreich appeared totally normal until that “cursed moment” when something overpowers him, each time in a different language. When the event ends, he does not remember a thing. His wife has demanded a ‘get’ since she is simply afraid, but then it remains uncertain if he is capable of giving one in his current [temporary] state. The community rav was notified, and he contacted HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, with whom he maintains contact. Rav Chaim was briefed at length, leading to many questions, until he began probing seforim, ultimately announcing “this is a real dibuk”. Rav Chaim explained that the Chafetz Chaim and the Chazon Ish knew how to expel a dibuk, but in our generation, there is only one man, sending them to Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Leib Shteinman Shlita. “Tell him that by all the signs, this is a genuine dibuk. Perhaps he will know what to do,” Rav Chaim is quoted as saying. Rav Shteinman also probed and questioned, as well as investigating in seforim, coming to the same conclusion, adding there is a man in Yerushalayim by the name of Rav Batzri who knows how to remove a dibuk, and “perhaps he will know what to do”. After it was determined that it would be extremely difficult to bring the avreich to Eretz Yisrael, arrangements were made to attempt to remove the dibuk using Skype and a computer, permitting the rav and the avreich to see one another. Rav Kanievsky was approached again, asked if perhaps

ANOTHER BOGUS DIBUK: This One Happening In Israeli Jails And Affecting Four Prisoners

Channel 13 News reported on Tuesday about a strange phenomenon that’s been occurring recently in one of the wings of the Chermon prison, located in the Galil. In the last few weeks, four separate incidents occurred when prisoners with no history of psychiatric issues suddenly “going crazy” and screaming that a “dybbuk” had entered them. The latest incident was on Tuesday when one of the prisoners had an outbreak, screaming for a half-hour that “there’s a soul inside me” and “they want to kill me.” Six prison guards tried to calm him down without success. “These are normal people who have absolutely no background of psychiatric issues and suddenly they’re caught by a dybbuk and begin to go crazy,” a prisoner of the wing told Mako, an Israeli news website. “There are strange things going on in this wing.” “Suddenly a prisoner that was with me in the cell began to go crazy, banging his head on the wall and screaming that he’s the Satan, that someone is controlling his body. It was very scary. He screamed for a long time. I tried to calm him down but it didn’t help. I was scared for my life because people who have a dybbuk enter them – you can’t predict their behavior.” On Wednesday, an update to the story was reported. A source from the prison told a reporter that almost 40 prisoners slept in the prison corridors instead of their cells since they were so scared of the dybbuk. These are hardened criminals who are not easily frightened. The staff of the prison allowed it since they were still in shock from witnessing the phenomenon themselves on Tuesday. Since it happened multiple times, the prison administration even reportedly consulted with the Rav of the jail, although the prisoners who experienced the attacks were Muslim. They also spoke to the prison’s sheikh (Druze religious leader). After the story went public, former prisoners of the Chermon jail contacted Channel 13 News, stressing that the phenomenon is real and there have been complaints about it since 2010. Attorney Walid Kabov, a criminal justice expert who represented some of the prisoners in that wing, stated: “These are known complaints that have surfaced many times. An in-depth clarification is needed as a large number of prisoners have made the same claim so it does not appear to be fabricated.” Back in 2009, YWN published a story about a Dibuk in Brazil which caused alot of controversy. The individual was reportedly overtaken by mysterious voices in multiple languages – all without his lips not moving. The community was concerned, and the Mekubal from Yerushalayim, Rabbi Dovid Batzri was called and asked what he can do. Rabbi Batzri first made an attempt to remove the Dibuk on a webcam via Skype. That didn’t work, so the individual was brought to Eretz Yisroel, and thousands of residents were given some free entertainment when Rav Batzri once again attempted to remove the Dibuk publicly in his Shul. Thousands of people gathered in the streets near Yeshivat Shalom, and watched and listened as Rav Batzri and a group of Mekubalim yelled “get out Dibuk!”, and repeatedly blew Shofars. Witnesses reported at the time that as the tzibur recited Shema and 13 Midos along with the mekubalim, two different distinct voices were heard from the young avreich.

VIDEO: Remember The Dibuk Story? It Was One Big Pack Of Lies

[SEE VIDEOS BELOW] Does everyone remember the story with the Dibuk from Brazil in December of 2009? The one that the Mekubal from Yerushalayim made a grand scene about, by first attempting to remove the Dibuk via the Internet over “Skype”? Well, the person who had the Dibuk inside of him, has now come forward to say that it was all one big lie. The story which was reported extensively by YWN, and caused lots of discussion at the time, all began when an individual from Brazil was overtaken by mysterious voices in multiple languages – all without his lips not moving. Despite all the efforts, it appeared that Rav Batzri was unsuccessful in his efforts to remove the dibuk from the avreich. It is interesting to note, that Maran Hagon Rav Elyashiv, Maran Hagon Rav Shteinman, and Maran Hagon Rav Chaim Kanievsky all refused to meet with the individual who claimed he was possessed by the Dibuk. Additionally, Rav Moshe Sternbach Shlita had said that the man was most probably mentally ill. Well this morning it is being reported by Bichadrei Chardeim that the man has come forward and admits that he spoke from his body. He says he learned all these languages before, and was never possessed by a Dibuk. He says he would like to ask forgiveness from Rav Batzri for involving him in the fiasco. It should be noted that this is not the first false Dibuk that Rabbi Batzri has been involved in. In the late 1990’s Rav Batzri was involved in a widely publicized exorcism which turned out to be a fake as well. That scene was broadcasted on Israeli TV and Radio. In August of 2009, during the scare of Swine Flue, Rabbi Batzri and a group of mekubalim flew around Eretz Yisroel on a private airplane armed with tehillim, seforim, shofaros and silver trumpets, to “create a blanket of protection”. Rav Batzri Abandons Fourth Attempt to Remove Dibuk

Rav Yitzchak Batzri did not make a fourth attempt to remove the dibuk from the young Brazilian avreich as was expected on Sunday. According to the reports received on Sunday, the noted Mekubal was going to make another attempt, as was reported by YWN-Israel. As the story ends, the gathering in the Rav’s shul, Yeshivat Shalom in Jerusalem’s Makor Baruch neighborhood, they took part in Rosh Chodesh tefillos and may were undoubtedly disappointed to learn there would not be another dibuk ceremony. It appears the Rav is concerned that additional attempts may result in harm to the young man. The Rav is also quoted as discounting statements that the avreich may be mentally ill, insisting many have interviewed and checked the young man and this was determined to not be the case. Dibuk 4.0 – Another Attempt Planned to Remove the Dibuk

HaMekubal HaRav David Batzri on Sunday afternoon will make a fourth attempt to try to remove the dibuk that allegedly plagues a Brazilian man. Previous attempts, both in person, and even tring via trans-Atlantic video hookup (Skype) have failed. When the news of this attempt leaked out, many curious on-lookers began heading to the Makor Baruch area of the capital, to Rav Batzri’s Yeshivat Shalom, in the hope of being present during the ceremony as they did earlier. Not everyone is convince there is a dibuk with some indicating mental illness is more likely, including Eida Chareidis Av Beis Din HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita, (http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=44669) who was quoted at attributing the sounds emanating from the young Brazilian bachur to such illness when questioned in the case last month. It should also be noted that Maran Hagon Rav Elyashiv also refused to meet with the individual involving the Dibuk. Report: Maran Rav Elyashiv Refused To Meet With Dibuk

According to a Chadrei Chareidim (CC) report, on the day of the ceremony to attempt to remove the dibuk from the avreich from Brazil, the avreich was brought to Maran R’ Elyashiv Shlita — and Maran responded: “Go away from here. I have no business with a dibuk”. Nevertheless, he did not rule out such a possibility, adding “you can publicize it”. CC reports another attempt is going to be made to remove the Brazilian dibuk, but this time, mekubalim will do so in a quite private unpublicized ceremony. Reports indicate the victim sought a bracha from Maran HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita, who reportedly stated “I have no business with dibuks”, agreeing to give the avreich a bracha from a distance, not in person, blessing him with good physical and spiritual health. Talmidim close to Rav Elyashiv explained excitedly this was a continuation of the words of the Vilna Gaon. As the story goes, when a dibuk was brought before him, the Gaon stated “I want nothing to do with it”, sending him away too. The editor of HaShavua B’Yerushalayim, Shlomo Kook, who is close to Maran R’ Elyashiv, was the only known journalist who was permitted to observe last week’s ceremony, the attempt by Mekubal HaRav David Batzri Shlita to remove the dibuk. He reported what he saw in his newspaper, in great detail. In the report, he brings the following regarding Maran R’ Elyashiv and the dibuk from Brazil. Kook speaks of the case of the dibuk in Dimona in 5759, Pinchas ben Sofia, when Maran was asked if one is permitted to tell the story to children since not everyone believes there was a dibuk in real life. The rav responded rhetorically, “can you say for certain it wasn’t genuine?” adding, “If some are encouraged (receives a chizuk) by this, why not tell?” This is the message this week regarding the dibuk of Brazil “whether we are dealing with a dibuk or not” the chareidi papers reported, quoting Maran R’ Elyashiv, echoing his words from 11 years ago – “if people receive a chizuk from this, why not?” (Yechiel Spira – YWN Israel)

HaGaon HaRav Sternbuch Reiterates: No Dibuk – Mental Illness

It appears Eida Chareidis Av Beis Din HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch appears determined to get the message across, that the reports of the Brazilian avreich infected with a dibuk are nothing more than a case of “mental illness”. The Rav made his statements in an interview in the HaKol Ba’Kol agency. The Rav stressed in this case he believes the avreich is ill. When asked if the Rav’s son attended the ceremony conducted by R’ David Batzri Shlita last week, the Rav confirmed this is true, explaining “he was curious. He wanted to go. What shall I do?” It should be pointed out the Rav’s comments pertained to this specific case and one should not draw any generalizations, the interview concludes. (Yechiel Spira – YWN Israel)

Rabbi Batzri: ‘Get Out Dibuk!’

There was a mechitza set up between the many who came to observe and the mekubalim headed by HaRav David Batzri Shlita, who was attempting to remove the dibuk from the Brazilian avreich in Jerusalem’s Yeshivat Shalom on Wednesday night. “Get out Dibuk!” shouted the rabbonim as shofars were sounded in the background. “Tell us your name”. Prior to the event, the avreich, who arrived from Brazil earlier in the week, visited a number of Gedolei Yisrael Shlita, including Jerusalem Tzaddik Rav Zundel Kroizer Shlita. The mekubalim gathered in the ezras nashim of the shul, separated from the crowd by the mechitza that was closed to prevent seeing what was taking place, permitting observers to listen in, no more. At one point, the dibuk appeared willing to leave the host, via an eye, but Rav Batzri shouted he does not have permission to harm the young man, ordering him to leave via the small toe of his left foot only, with causing any harm to the young man. The mekubalim did everything they could to compel the dibuk to leave, but apparently, even the special tikunim recited were not enough to extract the foreign entity from the young avreich. Witnesses report as the tzibur recited Shema and 13 Midos along with the mekubalim, two different distinct voices were heard from the young avreich. Despite all the efforts, it appears Rav Batzri was unsuccessful in his efforts to remove the dibuk from the avreich. (Yechiel Spira – YWN Israel)

R’ Batzri Shlita Will Try to Remove the Dibuk

HaGaon HaRav Mekubal David Batzri Shlita is expected to attempt to remove the dibuk from a Brazilian avreich as was reported in December 2009 by YWN-Israel. After Rav Batzri Shlita attempted to assist the victim without success via Skype, Rav Kanievsky and others have referred the infected man to Rav Batzri, indicating he is the only hope, the only one who knows how to deal with such a situation. Rav Kanievsky Shlita wished the man a complete recovery, but indicated he is not capable of addressing his problem, pointing him in the direction of Rav Batzri. The avreich from Brazil arrived in Eretz Yisrael a number of days ago, hoping the Mekubal will indeed be the shaliach who will return his life to what is was previously, before being invaded by this foreign entity. This morning, the avreich visited with Gedolei Yisrael Shlita, including Maran Rav Elyashiv Shlita, Rav Leib Rabinowitz Shlita, the Ma’adnei HaShulchan, HaGaon HaTzaddik Rav Zundel Kroizer Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Kanievsky Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Shteinman Shlita, visits that he made in compliance with a request from Rav Batzri, ahead of the Wednesday night attempt to remove the dibuk from him. The event will be held in Yeshivat HaShalom in the Makor Baruch area of Yerushalayim later Wednesday night. (Yechiel Spira – YWN Israel)

WATCH THIS SHOW: “Mekubal” and Group of Cronies Dealing With a “Dibbuk” [FULL VIDEO OF EVENT]

It seems that every few years another “Mekubal” in Eretz Yisroel is called to deal with a “Dibbuk”. Watch the attached video, in which a Mekubal wearing multiple pairs of Tzitzis and a Moroccan Rabbinic-type hat, is joined by a group of individuals, as they chase a “Dibbuk” of out a body. The Mekubal’s name is Rabbi Menashe Amon, and he appears to have been involved with several previous “Dibbuk” incidents. In the beginning of the video, a young man who appears to be in a troubled mental state is seen sitting in a chair, surrounded by the group who are reciting Pesukim from Tehillim [Yoshev B’seiser]. The Mekubal places his finger in a circular motion on the young man’s stomach. Suddenly, (at 35 seconds into the attached video) he begins screaming and jerking violently as if he was having a seizure. At 1 minute and 50 seconds into this event, the Mekubal begins clapping his hands wildly, and seems to wake up the sleeping young man, who again begins jerking wildly. The Mekubal helps the young man to the floor, where he appears to relax. At 3 minutes and 20 seconds the group then begins shouting “Tzai! Tzai! (Go out! Go out!)”, as they stamp their feet on the floor. The man begins rolling over and over as they begin reciting “Ana Bekoach”. At 4 minutes and 30 seconds the man begins rolling over on the floor. They recite some other Tefillos, and suddenly at 7 minutes the Mekubal announces “he is fine”. Later in the video (14 minutes), the Mekubal is seen talking to the woman who is filming the event. “Don’t call an ambulance, he will be fine in two minutes”, the Mekubal is heard saying. The man began exhibiting seizure-like symptoms once again, at which point the Mekubal gently rubbed the man’s stomach, while another man puts water on his face. The woman is heard saying she is hopeful that the man will be OK after suffering for “four years” from the “Ruach Ra’ah” (evil spirit). She adds that the “Tazddik” never takes even one Shekel for doing his holy work. Here is Rabbi Menashe Amon in 2014 with another “Dibuk”. Back in 2009, YWN published a story about a Dibuk in Brazil which caused alot of controversy. The individual was reportedly overtaken by mysterious voices in multiple languages – all without his lips not moving.
