Russian Israeli billionaire Arkady Gaydamak has reportedly won the tender for the Bikur Cholim Hospital in the heart of Yerushalayim – by paying $32 million. Gaydamak had almost lost the deal when shopping mall mogul Lev Leviav out-bid him. Gaydamak was awarded the deal anyways, since Leviav planned to transform the aging hospital into a real estate project, & Gaydamak has promised to upgrade & modernize the hospital by pumping major funds into the hospital.
According to Arutz 7, Gaydamak met with the Gavad Yerushalayim Rav Yitzchak Tuvia Weiss Shlita, and promised him the hospital would be operated in accordance with Halacha and top-of-the-line technology.
