Israel Radio military correspondent Carmella Menashe reported on Monday that a senior Haaretz executive accompanied by an attorney are traveling to the UK to meet correspondent Uri Blau, who received over 2,000 IDF documents from Anat Kamm. They wish to learn where the documents have been hidden, hoping to retrieve them as efforts to cut a deal continue. They remain hopeful that by returning the documents, they will prevent any criminal charges being filed against Blau, seeking protection under his journalistic credentials, explaining he was compelled to protect his source, adding the in-depth report that he published based on classified documents was reviewed by and approved by the military censor.
Haaretz also fears that be returning the documents, additional sources involved in the case may be revealed. In the meantime, Haaretz is not commenting and Blau remains in the UK. As for Kamm, she is in Israel, not incarcerated.
