Tragedy struck Yerushalayim on Sunday night when a fire erupted in the Ohr Chaim Yeshiva on Avinoam Yellin Street in the Bucharim area of the capital. While firefighters managed to save a number of Sifrei Torah from the blaze that resulted in significant damage in the yeshiva, three Sifrei Torah were destroyed.

The call for a fire arrived at the fire dispatcher at 4:30am, and when the truck arrived from the nearby Romeima firehouse, firefighters immediately realized they were up against a mean blaze that had spread through the structure.

They immediately began to evacuate the talmidim from the inferno, with eight different fire apparatus working at the scene to bring the fire under control. When they finally did, they realized the extent of the tragedy; the major damage and the three burned Sifrei Torah R”L.
