Koch Slams Obama Over Israel

Former Mayor Ed Koch, a longtime outspoken supporter and defender of Israel, unleashed an unprecedented and blistering attack on President Obama in his weekly commentary , saying he’s “weeping” because he believes the leader of the free world of undermining the Jewish state and forming an alliance with Arab nations so he can easier impose a U.S.-prescribed peace accord on the Mideast.

Koch pointedly accused Obama of trying to “so weaken the resolve of the Jewish state and its leaders that it will be much easier to impose on Israel an American plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, leaving Israel’s needs for security and defensible borders in the lurch.”

And he added, “I believe President Obama’s policy is to create a whole new relationship with the Arab states of Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt, and Iraq as a counter to Iran – The Tyrannosaurus Rex of the Muslim world which we are now prepared to see in possession of a nuclear weapon. If throwing Israel under the bus is needed to accomplish this alliance, so be it.”

Koch was unrelenting about how he feels the president has handled recent relations with Israel, saying, “I weep today because my president … in a few weeks has changed the relationship between the U.S. and Israel from that of closest of allies to one in which there is an absence of trust on both sides.”

He also contrasted how the White House has handled Israel compared to the Afghanistan administration of President Karzai, essentially accusing Obama of coddlng him.

“On the other hand, our closest ally – the one with the special relationship with the U.S., has been demeaned and slandered, held responsible by the administration for our problems in Afghanistan and Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East.,” he said.

Koch didn’t spare groups like AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobby, for acts like applauding Hillary Rodham Clinton after she “hectored” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a tough phone call.

Then there are the members of Congress, especially the Democrats, who are “weak” and afraid to criticize the president.

Early in the piece he compared the Obama administration’s handling of Israel to the seige against it by the Romans centuries ago.

“If Obama is seeking to build a siege ramp around Israel, the Jews of modern Israel will not commit suicide,” Koch wrote. “They are willing to negotiate a settlement with the Palestinians, but they will not allow themselves to be bullied into following self-destructive policies.”

  1. Koch is a hypocrite who’s attitudes toward Israel as expressed onn his radio show when he had his show many years ago on WABC talk radio from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM (then came Paul Harvey for 15 min)
Were just like Obamas’ are now.

The article says; about Koch; “And he added, “I believe President Obama’s policy is to create a whole new relationship with the Arab states of Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt, and Iraq as a counter to Iran – The Tyrannosaurus Rex of the Muslim world which we are now prepared to see in possession of a nuclear weapon. If throwing Israel under the bus is needed to accomplish this alliance, so be it.””

Except for the part about Iran which was not such an issue when Koch had hios show, his attitudes were the same appeasement at all costs.

Koch wanted to keep giving land away foer more terrorism.
His attitude was also a so what attitude toward Jews getting slaughtered on a regular basis by Israels “peace partners”.

The motto by the leftists back then, was “that is the price of peace”.

Yeah Israel gets ever smaller and more Jews have to die for “peace”.
Koch pushed for these ideas and anyone (like me) who called his show and tried to tell him otherwise were always labeled as “fanatics” who “hate peace”.

  2. G-d bless you Mr. Koch! You are a true friend of Israel. If only the Jews who are employed by Obama would be willing to put their money where their mouths are. However, no matter who supports us, we know that the RS”O will redeem us from evil and calculating people such as Sheikh Obama and Horrible Hillary. To those in the administration who are presently selling themselves to the devil I would like to quote from Mordechai Hayehudi “אל תדמי בנפשך להמלט בית המלך…כי החרש תחרישי בעת הזאת רווח והצלה יעמוד ליהודים ממקום אחר!”

  3. Dont worry Im sure Charlie Hall Obama’s official representative to the orthodox community will have a response for the administration shortly.

  4. Ed Koch is about as qualified an expert on foreign policy as is my Basset hound dog. He has managed to betray everything and everybody who helped him get elected mayor. Remember his promise NOT to run for governor?

  5. #1 (hereorthere) got it mostly right: Koch was asked by a listener what, if after giving “back” land, Israel’s response to a Palestinian attack should be and Koch responded: “Wipe ’em out!, wipe ’em out.” Within a few years after the land was given to the PLO, the terrorist bombings and (later on) rockets started to reign on Israel with regularity, Koch did a 180 degree about-face and said that Israel can’t just wipe them out.

LO SAGURU MIPNAY EESH! G d has the last word!

  6. #5 and #6 you don’t have to be a foreign policy buff to say what Ed Koch said. He’s a fellow Jew and has the right and imperative to defend us. I think he’s at least as smart as you guys.

  7. Most of the posts dont make sense. Obama, an unknown, ran on a platform of representing a new, younger way of looking at things to correct the disasters of the Bush/Cheney administration.

Remember, Clinton/Gore handed over a surplus of money to Bush. From the beginning of the Bush administration (9/11) to the end (fall of Wall St, and the banks), it was a disaster. Bush created the breach so that an incompetent idiot like Obama could get elected.

To make a long story short, most “liberal” Jews were hopeful. Most “non-liberal” Jews hated him solely because he is black and because of his middle name. The “non-liberal” Jews got lucky on calling this one. If you want to destroy achdus with your fellow Jew, dont. Lets end this now: “Non-liberal” Jews, you were right!

    Next….

  8. “Then there are the members of Congress, especially the Democrats, who are “weak” and afraid to criticize the president.”

That means you, Chuckie! Start looking for a new job.

  9. to Mayor Koch; You laid dowm with dogs and got up with fleas. Why are you now shocked at Obama’s policies. The left [of which you are a member] is anti Isreal and anti Semitic. You sound like the French officer in the movie Casablanka, who while receiving his winnings at roulette says ” I’m shocked that gambling is going on here”.

  10. Mr. / Mrs. “MoshiachNow01” (Post # 9): I disagree with your comments. The Bush presidency was not a disaster as you put it. Yes, we learned the lesson that Wall Street needs some degree of scrutiny and controls, but at least the Republican fiscal policies created wealth. Under Obama, there will be no money left. His taxes will serve as a disincentive to work, and his governmental take over and strangle hold on all sectors will snuff out whatever flame of capitalism still remains!

I am a “non-Liberal.” However, the reasons that I was against Obama have nothing to do with his pigmentation. It was things like his flip-flop on Israel, which proved that he was untrustworthy. People who voted for Obama, despite his refusal to outline any strategies for his administration during the campaign, are just plain dumb. Furthermore, they collectively are to blame for the demise this country!

  11. #9 MoshiachNow01 where is your proof that;

” Most “non-liberal” Jews hated him (Obama; Who is the only Black person, mentioned in post #9 where this quote, comes from.) solely because he is black and because of his middle name. ”

You love to tell me I’m supposedly wrong even when I am not and you love to demand proof.
Where is your proof for your above outrageous statement that does anything ‘but’ promote the achdus you claim to care about.

    Donald Luskin of the National Review (dot com) says: in part;
“The unemployment rate bottomed at 3.8 percent in April 2000, and started deteriorating steadily from there (during the Clinton administration).”

And has a link to Department of labor unemployment statistics.

  12. I apologise, it was not MoshiachNow01 who loves to tell me how wrong I supposedly I am.

However, the rest of my post (#13) still stands.

Conservatives are not racist and have plenty of reason to be against Obama having nothing to do with his race.

And his middle name is an issue because Obama himself made it an issue, trying to hide it during the campaign, then cramming in our faces at the innaguration.

Obviously he was trying to send a specific messaage with those tactics and it to the credit of conservatives that they got the message loud and clear, as did Obamas Islamic friends.

Again I apologize for the wrongful accusation about him supposeldy telling me I am wrong so ofetn.
