PFLP head Ahmad Sa’adat had his day in court, albeit an unsuccessful one for the master terrorist.
The secretary-general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, who did not actually pull the trigger in a Jerusalem hotel but was the mastermind behind the assassination of Tourism Minister Rechavam Ze’evi, took his case to the Supreme Court, demanding that he be taken out of solitary confinement. The state explained that in his capacity as a senior terror official, if permitted to mix with the general population, Sa’adat will pass information to others and continue his terrorist activities.
Hamas has included Sa’adat’s name on its list of prisoners as it negotiates the release of Gilad Shalit with Israel. Unofficial reports indicate the prime minister has refused to comply with the demand, stating the murderer of a government minister will not be released.
