The High Court of Justice on Tuesday demanded a timetable from the state, questioning the delays in carrying out demolition orders against 16 homes located in the HaYovel neighborhood of Yishuv Eli and Charsha in the Talmon area, all in Shomron.
A growing movement is underway to save the homes, particularly one of the homes in Eli, belonging to the Klein family, the widow and children of IDF hero Major Roi Klein, who during the Second Lebanon War jumped on a hand grenade, thereby saving the lives of his subordinates.
When the government implemented the 10-month construction freeze, Defense Minister Ehud Barak indicated the government will halt demolitions since it was not going to implement a freeze and simultaneously destroy homes.
Peace Now continues to pressure the legal system to actualize demolition orders in yishuvim throughout Yehuda and Shomron.
