According to Yediot Achronot senior correspondent Nachum Barnea, Jewish terrorist suspect Yaakov Teital acted for a period as an informant for the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet), perhaps another Avishai Raviv, the ‘right-wing extremist’ working as a Shin Ben informant, who tried in earnest to entrap unsuspecting followers. Raviv played a pivotal role in the events leading up to the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin.
After Teital was questioned and released in 2000 regarding two murders in 1997, he was contacted by the Shin Bet again in an effort to recruit his services to provide information on right-wing activists. According to Barnea, the Shin Bet confirmed that Teital was an informant for a period of several months.
Teital, a former immigrant from the United States, 35, remains in custody on suspicion of two nationalistic murders and other acts of terror.
