With erev Yom Kippur falling on motzei shabbos, the traditional erev Yom Kippur slichos have been moved up to Thursday. Since Maran Rav Ovadia Yosef Shlita asked not to cancel his motzei shabbos shiur, the slichos have been moved to Thursday.
In addition, organizers fear if held motzei shabbos, it will lead to chilul shabbos among police and other security officials.
A special tefilla will be recited on behalf of Gilad Shalit and his father, Mr. Noam Shalit, is expected to take part.
