The NYSP confirms that at least seven people, including three children, have been killed in what the Journal News calls “a fiery wrong-way crash”.
According to reports, a Plymouth minivan was heading the wrong way in the northbound lanes around 2:00PM on Sunday, carrying at least four children, when it crashed head-on into an SUV. A third vehicle was also somehow involved.
Three children were killed, as well as the van’s driver. Also killed were three others all traveling in one of the struck vehicles.
Details about where and how the van – which is completely burned – got onto the parkway and why it was traveling into oncoming traffic are not yet available.
The tragic crash has shut down the northbound lanes of the Taconic State Parkway near Route 117.
It was unknown if any Misaskim / Chevra Kaddisha services were required, and Askonim are currently awaiting further info from the NYSP.
UPDATE 4:48PM EST: As of this time, it does not appear that Chevra Kaddisha services will be needed in this tragic, horrific crash.
