Meeting in NYC with UN Secretary-General Bank ki-Moon, Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Monday informed the organization’s leader that Israel will not cooperate with the investigation into Operation Cast Lead, the IDF’s counter-terrorism offensive aimed at halting rocket attacks into Israel from Hamas-controlled Gaza.
The senior minister had harsh words for the UN mandate given the investigative committee, which is seeking to ascertain if Israeli soldiers and decision-makers are guilty of war crimes for their actions in Gaza. The committee began its investigation in Gaza earlier this week, headed by Richard Goldstone.
