Sheikh Taysir al-Taminmi, who heads the PA (Palestinian Authority) Sharia Court, on Monday, released a statement addressing what he called the “crimes of the Jewish state”. The senior PA religious leader made his comments at an event hosted in eastern Jerusalem, stating matter of factly that Israel killed women, the elderly and children.
 
He expounded on his slanderous remarks, speaking of how Israel destroyed Islamic holy sites, constructed settlements and slaughtered innocent people – calling on Christianity and Islam to join forces against Israel towards the establishment of a free independent Palestinian state.
 
“If the pope wishes to speak of true justice” added Taminmi, “he must stop the Israeli killing and bombing of mosques”.
 
Needless to say the Jewish participants of the interfaith event were among the minority of participants who did not applaud, and when the Arabic remarks were explained to Pope Benedict XVI, he opted to leave the event.
