9:03AM IL: The Office of the IDF Spokesman has approved reporting that a soldier involved in operations in the Birzeit area, near Ramallah, was killed Wednesday night. No additional information may be published at this time.
9:31 AM IL: The soldier has been identified as Staff-Sergeant Noam Adin Richter Levy, 20, from Mitzpei Netufa.
The sergeant was wounded in his head from a single shot. The situation surrounding the gunfire is unclear. An investigation is underway.

I think it is probably safe to assume he was participating in the almost nightly missions to find and apprehend terrorists in these areas to protect the citizens of Eretz Yisrael. It is these missions, which get very little publicity, with of course HaSh-m’s help, that are the reason for the huge decrease in the last few years in suicide bombings (NOT the ridiculous wall that is being built).
