The tefilla/tehillim campaign first reported on YWN [HERE] earlier in the week is a huge success.
I spoke with Rav Yanki Schneck, who is the assistant to the Chief Rabbi of Rechovot, Rabbi Simcha HaCohen Kook Shlita, who has spearheaded the project in cooperation with the Bostoner Rebbe, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Horowitz Shlita.
According to Rav Schneck, the response, primarily from parents of soldiers, is overwhelming and there are literally thousands of requests to daven on behalf of the soldiers as well as for southern Israeli residents. As this is being written, tens of thousands of IDF reservists are preparing for battle as an increased effort is being focused on a growing threat from Israel’s northern border. Some of the reservists are being deployed along the northern border while many are heading south to join the Gaza operation.
Rav Schneck explained to me that in addition to the obvious relevance of this project at this critical time, the overwhelming achdus accompanying it is simply heartwarming. The Bostoner Rebbe Shlita has released several statements concerning the importance of achdus during this critical period during which Eretz Yisrael is once again facing a major threat.
Rav Schneck related one story to me from a parent, who explained that during the Second Lebanon War, someone who had eight people to daven for only submitted seven names [for reasons we do not know] and the seven returned home uninjured while the eighth was injured. We do not have guarantees that our tefillos will prevent injuries or worse chas v’sholom but we do know this is the appropriate response during crisis and Hashem does indeed hear the cries of Am Yisrael.
Rav Schneck furnished YWN a list of names to provide to readers, to enable you to take part in the tefillos for IDF soldiers. Click HERE to view the lists. Anyone wishing to contact the program headquarters to submit a name or to receive names to daven may email [email protected]. Additional contact information, phone/fax appears in the previous article that may be accessed by the URL link above.
Rav Schneck tells me that the response has not only been in Eretz Yisrael, but worldwide.
[Since it’s posting on YWN, there have been press releases by the Agudath Israel, Young Israel and other organizations informing people of this.]

I would like to adopt a soldier! How do I go about it? Does anyone know?
