Dozen Men Charged In Brazen NYC FedEx Truck Heist

fx.jpgAuthorities have charged a dozen men in the bungled New York City hijacking of a FedEx Express truck they thought contained millions of dollars in diamonds – reported HERE on YWN in December of 2007.

Authorities say the men were about to do it again when some were arrested this past Thursday.

The FBI says the men hijacked the truck – which was loaded with holiday presents – on a midtown Manhattan street on Dec. 20, 2007. Authorities say the robbers kidnapped and handcuffed the driver before releasing him five hours later.

The truck was found in Brooklyn. Nothing was missing or opened.

The defendants include a diamond company owner who claimed his employees were robbed of up to $5 million in diamonds in 2005. A co-defendant told the FBI the owner was involved in the theft.
