The Ministry of Health has issued a directive compelling a number of Tipat Chalav well baby clinics to open on erev Shabbos, 13 Tammuz 5773 to permit giving polio vaccinations to children who are yet unvaccinated.
Clinics will be operating in the Baka, N’vei Yaakov, Bayit Vegan, Sanhedria Murchevet and Maalot Daphne areas of the capital between 08:00-12:00.
Three clinics will operate on Shabbos in the Tzur Bacher, A-Tor and Shuafat, operating the same hours.
The move is prompted by growing concerns after polio was found in the Beersheva sewage system. http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/article.php?p=173587 The ministry stresses there is no fear of an outbreak at present, but adds parents should be vigilant regarding vaccinations for children under six who have not already had their vaccine.
