Finance Minister Yair Lapid revealed some of the essence of his 2013-2014 biennial budget today, 12 Iyar 5773. The minister announced he plans to cut 18 billion NIS in government spending, explaining some of the areas to be targeted include the military’s budget, salaries of government employees, child allowance payments and infrastructure. The government will also raise taxes towards increasing revenue by 5 billion NIS while his target deficit for 2014 is 3.0-3.25%.
The finance minister explained he has no plan to hide the national deficit, but quite the contrary. He plans to be totally transparent as the administration has to face some difficult fiscal realities, which he explains were inherited by the current administration. Lapid told the media “While our hearts go out to anyone unable to make ends meet, empathy is not a replacement for policy. In two years all Israelis will feel the change; with the realization one lives in a state that is fair and treats money respectfully.”

We should start by cutting the salaries of all the politicians who are the real parasites
if the gimmel mk’s had even an ounce of sechel and political savvy they would come up with 36 billion worth of cuts of their own.I’m not holding my breath.
