According to media reports, millions of locusts have arrived in Egypt a few short weeks ahead of Pesach. The infestation being described as a “plague” hit during the weekend, with the locusts landing in the area of the pyramids, known as the Giza region. Estimates by experts speak of “millions”, emphasizing the use of the term is not exaggerated in this case. Some estimates are as high as 30 million spread out over 15-20 miles resulting in devastation for farmers.

Authorities have instructed area residents to distance themselves from the area, including vehicles.
