Many are already saying “I told you so”, explaining they did not place their faith in the state prosecutor or attorney general, as the two are expected to recommend to the High Court of Justice to order the eviction of Jewish residents from their homes in Ramat Migron as planned. Some hoped that after documenting the purchase of over 80% of the homes in the community, the state would change its position since one cannot argue the eviction is necessary due to the fact the homes are on private Arab land.

The state prosecutor feels that even if the homes were legally purchased as claimed, this does not address the main point that was the impetus for the eviction decision, the need to defend the private property of the PA (Palestinian Authority) residents. In addition, in two of the three sections involved there is a problem — that the Jews must enter the Arab owned property to access the homes on the land they purchased. Regarding the third area, only some of the rights were purchased, and the state views the sale as a partial and not total sale.

For the residents and supporters of Migron there is much trepidation, fear and anger as they await the High Court’s decision.
