After being elected as the new national leader, President Shimon Peres sent a congratulatory letter to Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. Peres stated that he was one of the person involved in the peace treaty between Jerusalem and Cairo and he is hopeful that the two countries will maintain good relations and aspirations for peace in the region.
In his response, President Morsi thanked Mr. Peres for his good wishes during the holy month of Ramadan, adding that he remains committed to peace and regional stability for “all peoples in the region”.

This just in, courtesy of AP: The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood government is denying that the return letter was actually sent by President Morsi. Even though all identifying information indicates that it’s authentic.
I’m not sure why they would need to deny a commitment to peace….
