Former Mossad Boss Meir Dagan Signs the Petition at the ‘Sucker Tent’

Former director of the Mossad Intelligence Agency Meir Dagan has joined the growing number of prominent officials to sign the petition at the ‘Sucker Tent’ calling to share the defense burden.

The petition is seeking to compel elected officials to legislate a law that will compel all citizens to either serve in the IDF or enter a national service program. Dagan, like the others who signed, called the current situation intolerable, stating all citizens must simply share the security/defense burden. He added that sectors of Israeli society cannot enjoy a deferment while others carry the burden.

Those behind the petition report that they have already gathered over 100,000 signatures and they plan to continue. The petition is timed during the period preceding the expiration of the Tal Law granting draft deferments to chareidim, August 1, 2012.

  1. I agree with him. Why aren’t all the chilonim devoting 3 years to sitting in yeshiva and improving their Yiddishkeit?
